You have to assert yourself as the leader of the pack, or else it will always be aggressive towards you. Make sure you eat before you feed it, dont let it on the furniture, and take it to obedience classes, so it knows it has boundaries, and that you are in charge.

You need to get this under control NOW. Your dog needs to see you as the "alpha dog", the leader of the pack.

Put him in a leash. Put some treats in your pocket. Issue a few simple commands. Make sure he knows what they mean. When he growls or stubbornly refuses, jerk upward sharply on the leash. When he does as asked, praise him profusely and give him a treat.

Do this a couple of times a day. It takes time and patience, but you must never allow him to get away with snarling at you. He will only respect you if you demand it.

And give him LOTS OF LOVE.

Your dog definitely has some aggression issues that need to addressed immediately. Find a local, reputable trainer that specializes in aggression and take your dog to Obedience School. A good trainer does more than just walk you around the classroom teaching basic commands. They correct body language and help you attain the status, in your pack, that is rightfully yours and somewhere along the road you lost.
This is a problem that can and will escalate to attack behavior. If you intend to keep this dog, seek the help you need now.

I was taking my dog to a trainer, she growled at me a couple times and the trainer told me to keep her in her crate for a couple days. Only let her out when I walk her on a leash, and only HAND feed her. I had to sit outside her crate and actually let her eat from my hand...I was the only one aloud to feed her also. It was incredible! Ever hear the saying "never bite the hand that feeds you" Well it must have came into play here because since then she hasn't growled at me. We only had to do this for 2-3 days. It was a hard 2-3 days for me but she really did learn from it! I no longer have to hand feed her or keep her crated but she evidently rememebers that I am a "good human". When he/she growls at you he/she is trying to dominate you. You have to show him/her that YOU are the boss. GOOD LUCK :)

You don't mention what you are doing when your dog growls or bites. training for both of you, working together will be the best option.

Show your dog that you are the Boss and not him or her. Your dog is doing that because it does not respect for you. You probably need to be just a little more firm.

Your dog does not see you as a leader, it sees you as being equal to or subordinate to him. You need to establish yourself as pack leader. Mary (above) has good ideas, and you should also start watching the Dog Whisperer.

You have to show him who is boss, or else you will spoil him, teach him before he grows up.
Thump his nose when he do that, and talk in a loud commanding voice telling him don' t do that.
