well, i would guess that they didnt start labeling years as BC till after AD began?
but, since you said "dated about" he would not be saying they had the date on them,, but he thought they were from that time period,,,,,,, so then how would you know? i am sure they had gold back them,,,

No coins would ever be dated "B.C." obviously - not unless they were minted at a later date, and a time-traveller went back and placed them in an earlier era LOL

Actually the whole BC/AD thing of reckoning the years did not come into vogue until quite a bit later, like the Middle Ages (AD = Latin = Anno Domini = "In the year of our Lord")

Although the oldest coins were created centuries before Christ -- the meaning of BC -- none had numeric dates -- and obviously, none could have referenced the date of Christ's birth to make the calculation.

He's not lying, the Lindians or the Phonecian's (I forget which one) made gold coins in the 400's b.c.

AND EVERYBODY!!!! He means b.c wasn't written on the coins it was just the carbon dating that said they were from 46 b.c!

If the coins have bc on them then you know he is lying because that term didn't come into effect until after Christ was born.

Because there would not be any dates, especially not "BC"-- Before Christ. The people who made the coins wouldn't have known about Christ, especially not before the date he was supposedly born!
