I filed my 2006 tax return through Turbo Tax. Since I owe the IRS for the federal tax, I paid through IRS.gov. Would that be sufficient? Do I still need to complete the Turbo Tax e-file or not? I believe it's not needed but I still want to know if I'm right about that. Thanks.

I was not clear. I did my taxes on Turbo Tax so that's how I knew how much I owe. I then paid it through another website. Now based on the first answer I suppose I need to print the return and mail it because I tried to e-file through Turbo Tax but I did not get any message to that effect. I will wait for a day to check.

I'm not sure I understand what you are asking. You said "I filed my 2006 tax return through Turbo Tax" but then you're asking if you still need to e-file it. What exactly did you mean by "I filed"?

The IRS needs a copy of the return, either by e-filing or by mailing a printed copy. If you e-filed the return and got an acknowledgment that it was accepted by the IRS and you paid the tax due, then that should be enough. Just make sure that a copy was sent to them somehow. I don't use Turbo Tax myself, so unfortunately I can't tell you exactly where to look to find out if it's been e-filed and accepted.

Yes, you still need to complete the filing - they still want your signature page.
