Really? Has America been attacked since
9/11?? Do you really think its because nobody tried yet? Have you no knowledge that they try it every single day? President
Bush is the reason you haven't been blown up at the mall, you idiot.
If the democrats get in there, they want to talk nicely and with sweet words to the terrorists, perhaps serve tea......
Why do you think other countries hate Bush so much? Because he won't take any of their bullshit, thats why. People in this Country had better wake up to the stark reality that people want us, and our children dead. And as for your love of the first amendment, guess what, genious; its not gonna be here for long - freedom of speech is now being stomped on. A bill is ready
to pass called HR1529, which says that if
you say ANYTHING that suggests that you are not in agreement with homosexuality,
the police can say that you "were thinking hate crime" and thats just like actually committing a hate crime. Your jail sentence will be over 40 yrs. in prison. Think its never gonna happen? Two grandma's were arrested in our closest City called Philadelphia; they were handing out little booklets with the writings of John from the New Testament. The police arrested them and they are charged with a "hate crime".
Their crime is exactly the same as if they strung up a gay guy and beat him horribly.
Exactly the same.
Christian groups are getting money together to buy airtime on TV to put these
two old ladies (ages 74 and 75)on tv to
show people what is going on. People had better wake up. First Amendment? Yeah,
I remember when it was still a right. Not anymore my friend. Not anymore.

People are under the misconception that free speech means you can say absolutely anything you want at any time you want and that simply is not the case. You can mostly say what you want, but there are situations where you will be punished for it (and it will not be a violation of the 1st Amendment for you to be punished). You cannot create a hazard (like a bomb threat, or yelling "fire" in a crowded building to incite panic), you cannot threaten people and you cannot make stupid "jokes" about bombs and such in places like airports or post offices. People can speak their minds, but they still have certain responsibilities...free speech is not a free for all.

Wrong. The right to free speech refers only to public places and only with respect to the US government. Yahoo is not public - you are here by invitation and Yahoo can revoke that invitation any time they like and they have the right to remove all of your speech. You do NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to say that here, but Yahoo will allow it anyway. The FIRST AMENDMENT DOES NOT APPLY.
If you think that a government agency won't take your computer away for speaking out against the government, you might be right. But if they wanted to they could come up with any other spurious charge in order to take it away. Free speech in any case does not mean freedom from the CONSEQUENCES of free speech.
As The Clash said in their song 'Know Your Rights' - "You have the right to free speech, as long as you're not dumb enough to actually try it".

I don't like what you said about our President, but I'll die for your right to say it. Much blood has been shed for freedom and I love the First Amendment also. Thank you for making your statement without filthy language or obscene words.
One more thing - hopefully Congress will make sure this law is enforced. We have some Judicial Systems in America that need to be scolded and reprimanded.

I think it is a great thing that in America we can answer a phone poll and tell the person, I do not like the president, he stinks, he's made horrible decisions. And we will not lose anything.
Still there are certain things which if you say (I will refrain from that now)
which in the governments eyes warrants an investigation. (NO FUN AT ALL).

I agree that the First Amendment is one of our most precious possessions. But we do need to defend and protect it.
We are pledged to Liberty and Justice for all. For ALL, I said!

While I agree that it is fine I would hope you understand this right of free speech is not unique to the US, although it is not as universal as it should be.
Your privacy and free speech rights are also constantly under attack, I hope you're fighting ;)

Agreed. It's a great thing.
Gary Kasparov was arrested in Russia for this kind of thing today.
