While there is pain in both UTI and IBS; they are entirely different.in their causes or etiology; and location.
.
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an encroachment by the bacteria of the urinary tract which includes kidney, ureters, bladder or urethra. This bacterium enters the opening of the urethra and procreates in the urinary tract causing urinary tract infection. This can be very painful and a major cause of distress in your life. If it is not contained in the earlier stages it is likely to spread to your kidneys, which can become a serious health issue. The treatment for UTI is mostly antibiotis and lots of fluids. Prevention is good personal hygiene esp after elimination. .In women, during perineal care, wash from front to back to avoid contaminating meatus, thus the urethra from the rectum.
IIrritable bowel syndrome or IBS is a functional disorder of the intestine. It can occur at any age but occurs mainly at adulthood or middle age. Mainly women suffer from IBS.
Symptoms of IBS may vary from person to person. The primary symptoms of IBS are bloating, abdominal pain, and discomfort. Some other symptoms of IBS are mucus in stool, constipation, changes in bowel habit, cramping in lower abdomen and diarrhea. For some people symptoms of IBS may come and go but for some it may be constant. The symptoms may worsen in women during their periods.
Treatment for IBS is to eat a fiber rich diet. Do not take laxatives often. Exercise regularly. Avoid tension. De-stress your life.
Sometimes, when you experience diarrhea with IBS, you might urinate at the same time. The white substance you see might be mucus in the stool. The urine in a case of UTI may appear cloudy. UTI may also cause some burning sensation during urination and also some blood in the urine.

I know what you are going through. It hits me anytime, anywhere. I try and avoid greasy foods, and drink water which I hate. Mainly watch what you eat and I also take vitamins and benefibre on my off days. I have also seen irritable bowl tablets at the supermarket, see if they work. I was going to but didn't have enough money on me. Maybe even seek out a dietitian for advice. I am going to as it gets annoying some times. Good luck and hope all goes well.
