You have a good start, and you'll be fine. Trust me, by the time you get through Basic Training, you'll be able to do the required number.
As far as the crap-slingers that are going to doubt your decision, don't worry about it. There is more to the military than just Iraq. Iraq, just like every other war in our history, will pass, and there is a great deal of good you can do in the world and at home as a member of the Armed Forces.

No you'll be fine.. when you're in the front lean and rest it won't bother you as much as other people..
Are you a good runner? I thought the running and all the long movements were more of a challenge than getting smoked.

Believe me by the time basic is almost over and its time to the test you will do fine. They will make sure you have done plenty of pushups and situps between now and then. Good luck in basic. Congrats on enlisting. Welcome to the military.

Dude, you'll be fine. I could only do about 17 situps when I joined but I worked at it and was always able to pass the PT test.
Although why you're joining the military right now I don't know. Wait until there's a cause worth fighting for.
Even if you're already in the DEP program, there's no penalty for not showing up to Basic - they just write you off their rolls. Once you've completed Basic, though, things change. Once you're active Army, you're not out until you receive a discharge, which could be honorable, other than honorable, general, etc.
