How much can i buy a 20' shipping container for (cheap as possable)?

For a scruffy one that will need cleaning, repainting and possibly a new floor, about £250.
For something decent, about £1,000.

Different people have different definitions of cheap. The containers on ships are called Sea Containers. Most of the cargo ports in the US sell used sea containers for $1000 to $5000 depending on size and condition. The only place I have seen them where I consider them cheap is at construction equipment auctions. Sometimes you can get them there for $400-$1000.
