they occupied another country and gave it a name but this does not make it their land or country, so Israel is just a condition, like chicken pox or malaria, some country is suffering from but it is not a country

Israel was made and supported by major powers as their own project to make Arab countries busy and weaker. The Arab nation was growing with good resources and one living rich culture. That's why major powers always support Israel as they know it can be used to make the dirty job. It costs less than sending their own troops and weapons. With the presence of Israel they can keep their weapons in the area after the liberation of most Arab countries when the English and French had to leave the Middle East.
Now US decided to fight and occupy by their own troops, the use of Israel is less importance specially after the last summer war when Israel was defeated while US pushed Israel to attack Lebanon to destroy Hezballah and to experiment the new weapons on the Lebanese. One day sooner or later Israel will fall down not as a country, but as fruitless and unsuccessful project. There will be also the problem of the mutinous old agent.
Finlay Israel is another Bin laden, but some good Israelis who has human sense still can be part of the world community working for peace.

Wow! so many harsh words from people who never even been to Israel and probably don't even know any Israelis.
I wonder what they all had to say if you asked about their opinion about France, Spain or England; all countries who took lands off other nations and still engage in wars, but no one seems to scream and shout about it.
I wish people would base their opinions on what they KNOW rather than what they are told...

As a descendant of so called "Israelis" myself, I believe Israel's goverment is the worst goverment on earth. Why are we in the Middle East anyways? We are actually Europeans scattered from all over Europe & Russia. In my opinion, one day we should all head back to where we came from and not take over some land that belongs to the Arabs just because the British mandate gave it to us.

All hail and bless Israeli-people !
Peace to the World!

Perhaps the time has come for a lesson in cause and effect. The fact that Israel has fought in a war every decade does not mean it CAUSED the war every decade. Your explanation as the one that "provoked" the war is ludicrous. I suppose Israel "provoked" the 1948 War of Independence by declaring independence? Or the 1967 war by having its port at Eilat blockaded by Egypt? 1973 war by being invaded by both Egypt and Syria? Your logic is impeccable my dear sir. And yet on another thread you call someone else not open-minded.
In my opinion: Israel is a country that struggled for survival for the first 40 years and has struggled for peace for the last 20. It's done much more than anyone thought it could, and has flourished. It is a beacon for what a country in the Middle East *could* become - despite no natural resources (like oil) that certain other countries have it has succeeded in building a strong economy based on democracy and human rights. I think for that it deserves acceptance. It has managed to survive many an onslought, and for a long time was the underdog in the Middle East. For that it deserves respect. It is home to many of the religious sites of the world, and despite the religious persecution that the Jews suffered by both Christians and Muslims through both ancient and modern times Israel has ensured freedom of religion and visitation to those sites. For that it deserves admiration. You may not agree with Israel's politics, but you should at least admire Israel for what it has achieved.

USA needs them as our only real link in the middle east. If the Palestinians, Lebanon, and other countries didn't harass, and murder their people with car bombs, and suicide bombers all the time like they do, Israel wouldn't hurt them back, and fight them all the time. If the Arabs would stop being greedy, be satisfied with their own land, and stop thinking that Israel is theirs, and let Jews have their country, without attacking her, there would be peace, at least for that region. Israel was promised to King David, and before that, the Jews never had a country, as they were wanderers, and nomads. It is unfair for anyone to say that a people should not be allowed to have just ONE piece of land to call home. I care about Israel, and their people. They need USA, as well. I support them.

So much in the way of politics here...
It gets depressing after a while.

My opinion of Israel is that it is a beautiful land with a rich history and I am inspired by those that chose to make it their home.

As for politics I would rather not get into it.

Reza, as the first person actually from Israel to respond to your question, I say that I love my country. I think it's a great shame that Israel has been so grossly mischaracterized by the international media, because if you meet people here, they are some of the most friendly, principled, open-minded and accepting people in the world. We are a very lively bunch, living for the moment as there is no certainty in for the future.

The country itself is beautiful, a mix of historically significant places with the latest in 21st century modernity.

EDIT: Consider what the two people below have written. Prior to 1948, how many wars have Jews been actively involved in? Compare this to the number of wars in which the Arabs have been involved in. We don't have a culture of fighting.

Despite being Lebanese, I actually like Israel and don't blame them for the war on Lebanon. Hizbollah was to blame for that. Israel is not a pushover to its terrorist neighbors, and I applaud them for that.

Israel is made of confused population all most on every issue: Who is a Jew, Republic without a written constitution, A Jewish state where none Jews are not = in front of the un written law, occupying land that was never part of Israel, seculor VS religous, orintal Jews VS western Jews, War groups Vs peace groups. Israel can not live in peace with it-self.
Sorry Michael. Israel provoked all the wars but one war the 1973 war.
Zionists lied to poor Jews and the world when they said there were no people living in Palestine.
Zionists racists lied about every thing relating to Palestine historically, socially, biblically and politically.
Zionists lied to the poor Jews and the rest of the world when they said there was no country called Palestine.Zionists lied to all of us when they say the Arabs attacked Israel 5 time and the truth is Israel started all the wars but one war 1973 war.In 1948 Zionists rejected the UN PARTITION PLAN and wanted more land than the plan gave Israel 55% of the land The Zionists declared a state while rejecting the UN plan and attacked the Palestinian cites and which were not part of Israel according to the plan .
In 1956 war, Zionists attacked Egypt along with colonial England and France and got small part of Egypt.1n 1967 war Zionists attacked Egypt and Jordan and Syria and got all of Palestine and some Egyptian and Syrian lands.
In 1982 Zionists attacked Lebanon and took more land.
2000 Zionists attacked the West Bank And Gaza and got more land and look the Zionists are building a wall on Palestinian land .

The fact that most Zionist rejects is The Holy Land is for Christians, Moslems, and Jews for the last 2000 years.
