Not that I care.... but..... I can't help but wonder why all these people are answering the religion questions when they don't believe in God.

BradMich- Never thought of it that way :)

I don't really care who answers what questions.... you don't have to get all angry.

BradMich- Self centered? How do you know what I believe? I didn't say that I did, or did not believe in God. (I do, but that's not the point.) I've just never thought about the word "religion" in the way that you put it. I'm not forcing my "religion" on anyone by any means. I just asked a simple question and you answered it very good.

it's truly amazing, how much extra baggage people can carry with us when we try to answer a question...i see you have some respondents interpreting your question to mean more than you asked. i think that some people think that if they can express some form of put-down and insult, they have shown their intellectual superiority, and thus validated themselves...

It is hard work to not believe in God, when there remains tugging on the inside which is denied forever, so they must keep working at the task of burying what is true. So answering questions is a way for them to remain strong in an atheistic viewpoint, otherwise they would slip and fall and risk being converted.

religion doesnt not always involve gods or a god.
it can involve a set of views or beliefs pertaining to a higher power or order. or just a set of views that one systemically believes in.
someone can be religious about doing homework.

are u that self centered that u think people should believe what you believe and thats it?

EDIT: No problem:)

EDIT 2: You're right. I dont know what you believe. No one here is a mindreader. But we just have to keep an open mind and understand that just because we believe in one thing it does not necessarily mean others would or should also.
This is why wars start and continue: imposing others beliefs on people without regard to their own experiences and circumstances.

There are many many belief systems in the world. Everyone worships sth. If you don't worship God, you probably worship money, fame, or simply certain channels on TV. No one worships nothing. Except "nothing", everything can be worshipped, and so everything is a religion. Everyone can come here. They bother me all the time, but that's their rights.

Funny -
You asked a legitimate question. You did not imply that some folks have no right to offer an opinion, but that is exactly what everyone addressed. The question is "why"? Why do non-theists answer questions that are clearly addressed to theists? Sure they have a right to do so - but what is the motivation?

Orac seems to offer the best answer, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm here to answer questions from a pagan/Taoist/atheist point of view.

Bradmich is right, there's a lot more to religion and spirituality than the three monotheistic religions.

Which god is it that you say they don't believe in.This question always cracks me up.The word god is defined as a deity in a male form.As is the word goddess defined as the female form of a deity.By saying the word god are you assuming that everyone has the same god in mind.Or are we to assume you are believing in the same god as us.Just because a person doesn't believe in a higher power doesn't mean they shouldn't be allow to offer their opinion.Seems people who believe in one god are more then willing to offer their opinion when the question pertains to another god.A person of one belief seems to offer their opinion when the question is about a differing belief. So perhaps we could ask your question in many different ways.Perhaps the reason they answer is just because they feel they have something to say.

They dont like to be told what to believe and who can blame them. I believe in God , but my God may not be your God . So if I want to believe in my God , then people should have the right to not believe in my God or any God , if they so choose.

They don't want you to believe in God either. One of us! One of us!!! Actually, I believe in God, just not in the way other people do.

It's one of the great enigmas of humanity - why they offer their opinion on a subject, even if it isn't necessarily welcome.

The great tapestry of humanity...
Beautiful to behold from a distance, but the closer you get, the more you realise it's just a series of little threads.
Much like R&S, if you think about it...

That's just my opinion, welcome or not.

Thanks for the question.
