As far as I have learned, the Arabic nations were warring, horrible, violent, barbaric.... then along came Mohammed. He taught them to live peacefully, and showed their women how to protect themselves, and made sure their men did not take more than four wives, and that those wives were all cared for in houses of their own. He taught severe punishment for people who broke the laws because they were such a barbaric people and the need to civilise them was so great. I believe God sent Mohammed to Arabs.
I agree with what all the Muslims here have said, that it is a cultural thing when supposed "Muslims" kill other people. Those people are abberants from the Islamic faith, not examples of it.

After the 9/11 incidents when this sort of propaganda were first initiated in Western countries by their leading media saying like "Islam allow the killing of innocent unbelievers" and similar untrue things, my reaction was that since I am a Muslim and I am taught the holy Quran with Hadiths right from my early education, I know that these are falsehood and Islam is not a religion being followed in one or two countries that people would be so naive to follow it blindly.
But to my horror what I can see now that on the one hand these western propaganda chorus is getting lots of winds from many religious denominations who in the past would not be considered as a force to reckon with to malign Islam, and on the other hand our own Muslim brethrens started resorting to terrorism by harming civilians of both sides, thereby, confirming these propaganda as genuine.
In our own war of liberation in Bangladesh we saw that our freedom fighters indeed tortured Pakistani captured soldiers and their supporting Razakars in a miniscule level in compare to what these soldiers had done to the unarmed civilians in 1971. However, there were no suicide bombing or such mass killings tactics done here by our freedom fighters.
Therefore, though Pakistani military was terming our freedom fighters as terrorists but the whole world (except the USA who supported Pakistan) was with us or showed sympathy for our cause, or at least not opposed our cause.
What we can see in Kashmir, Israel, Iraq and Afghanistan is that the oppressors non-Muslims are getting away with their crime when the victim Muslims are resorting to 'terrorism' for achieving their just and noble cause.
Therefore, time has come for the Muslim religious and political leadership to condemn all types of violence and terrorist acts against civilians and stop beheading and such nefarious tactic forthright. Let them fight the government and their soldiers who are trained to fight, not the civilians.
If these self-disciplining can be achieved then we need not to go and defend our religion and its teachings through such forum where chances of anti-Muslims ridiculing Islam is open.

Any religion is a means to a goal. The paths are many but the goal is the same- innate good. Religion is a socially created norm that has flourished in every culture. It is made by man , so it has its faults. No religion is perfect , rather they make up for each other's downfalls. Islam is a religion of good , as is Christianity or Buddhism. You dont need a religion to dictate whether or not u should kill. All you need is a concience that tells you , how you would feel if you were in the victim's place.
God is one , but we will never understand that because man loves to create barriers - differentiation , disparity. God is in you , you are God , dont stoop down to anything below that.

Sa i just do not copy whatever is written in the Islam bashing sites you say you have quoted the holy Quran are you aware in what context these revelations were sent on Muhammad (PBUH). First study the Quran properly with the context and then start your Islam bashing which I know you will do any time you get a chance.
Islam does not allow anyone to harm anyone even a insect

I'll put it simple:
A soldier is not an innocent disbeliever. Somebody who works against Muslims is not an innocent disbeliever. Somebody who provides financial support for killing of Muslims is not an innocent disbelievers. Somebody who provides intelligence for cold blood killers is not an innocent disbeliever. They are disbelievers but not innocent.
Basically Islam prohibits killing of women, children and elderly, but if that particular lady is someone like Lindsay England, she can be killed, or anyone of those three categories whose work threaten lives of Muslims.
Now a question for you:
If some barbarians invade your country claiming to bring peace and democracy, and start killing people, including women and children, rape and loot, dissacrate holy places, destroy churches, how would you feel? Would you still feel it is wrong to fight back?
Every invasion is wrong. My grandpa is not a Muslim but he fought foreign invaders. My native country is in majority a non-Muslim country but in case of a foreign invasion I would defend it for the sake of Allah s.w.t. and I wouldn't like something bad to happen to my non-Muslim neighbours.
Now, terrorist attacks in USA, Europe and other places are a different issue. I'm not in favour of them, but use sound reason and a bit of common sense and you'll know why they happen. If USA sends massive armies abroad and support oppressive dictator regimes, why should they be surprised if anything happens on their soil?
To summarise: forget the cowboy propaganda and stop seeking the fault in Muslims. USA will only be entitled to condemn terrorism when they won't kill anybody abroad.

Actually, in Islam killing is fall under major sin. Islam however does not allow it follower to kill either a kafiir or a muslims itself. It is wrong! However in islam for every major sins, there are equal sentence to its. For example if you commit robbery, for the first time. one of your hand will be cut out.. If for the second time, you got caught for commiting the same crime, the other hand will be cut out..The rational of doing this is simply to warn other for not commiting the same sin. Another example of major sin is mudering other human being. If the murdering activity is done for plessure of killing people, the relatives of the victims being killed have the right to killed back the murderer by stoning to death. However if the murdering is unintended, the murderer can seek forgiveness by free a slave, of give food to the poor all in the name of Allah s.w.t. He also have to promise himself not to repeating the same crime again
I believe each religion is pure and come from GOD. It is people who put the dirt. I'm not jew or christian haters, it is true that you are not accountable to the people who cause trouble. You just happen to be in one!So do us muslims, we have strong feeling over ours brothers and sisters in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan,Pakistan!Look at these country man!See how many people has been killed due to your leader stupidity and insanity. Most of the people who got killed is civilian, common people who did nothing wrong to your people and country dude!
I also curse muslims, who play along with this games of your leader. sWearing to be a devoted follower but acting like a sinner.
What we need now is peace and love dude! Not haters!Everyday i pray the world will just full of love without war, dying people. Because according to islam, before the world could really get to it end, there will be one major war, involving every single people in the world, this major war will destroy the earth. And when this happen.. it aint not time left for you and me dude!aight..

Non believers are not our enemies, Satan is. We defeat Satan by saving the souls of non believers. I am a Christian and I believe that Muslims are God's children too. It is sad to see so much misunderstanding going on in the world. Satan is hard at work. Many Christians also confuse the old laws of Moses with the Ten Commandments of God. May God bless us all.

Depends on how one defines 'innocent' in an islamic 'environment'.
I just know it isn't the definition you might think it is.
