Odd question that. The Green Mile was an excellent movie and the book was even better. I seem to remember The Hunt for Red October was pretty good.
The Color Purple comes to mind of course. It was well made and entertaining even though it was blatantly racist and sexist.

Racism, feminism, Oprah decking her husband's girlfriend, it doesn't get much better.

The Color Purple was/is my favorite movie.
It is the perfect story of overcoming hardship to find way to happiness.

The Island of Blue Dolphins -- Brooke Shields.
Soylent Green -- because it's just that scary, even now.
Pitch Black -- also scary but more fun

Grease!
Cause I love it. It's upbeat, fun, happy, perky. Every good girl loves a bad boy. For the girls it has Travolta. For the guys, it has a blonde. And the music is great.
(and yeah if you have the BIG crayola box, Grease is a color)
