and taking away from the word of God. they answered that at that time there was no bible. that is a cop out. When Joseph Smith allegedly received his calling there was a bible at this time. So why do the Mormons use such bumper sticker cliches in all of their answers? I have seen it here time after time all you get is what they have been told to say? Are they too afraid to ask questions that may stir their culture? What are you afraid of? If you could answer a simple question with the truth what would this do to your relationship with the LDS church? All we get a vague answers, You need to back up your faith with scriptures from the bible without taking the scriptures out of context. I was told back in the 70's by two of your missionaries that Mormons were not christians. That Jesus and Satan are brothers, a very blasphemous and dangerous doctrine. What happened in the past 30 years did one of your prophets have a vision, that changed the whole mormon church? TRUTH tell it!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you know that Revelations was written before most of the rest of the Bible? And what about Deuteronomy 4:2? Does that mean everything after should be ignored? I don't mock your religion, please don't mock mine!

When you read Deuteronomy 4:2 or Revelation 22:18, you have to take into consideration WHO was writing, WHEN they were writing and in what context.

When Moses wrote in Deuteronomy, or John wrote in REvelation, there WAS no such thing as "The Bible", therefore, those verses can NOT be talking about THE BIBLE. Joseph Smith was not adding to the Book of Deuteronomy or the Book of Revelation. He was not even adding to the Bible. He was giving us GOD'S word. God can add to His word anytime He wants to.

All the Mormons on here have answered everyone's questions honestly to the best f their ability. We give straight answers, just not the answers you want to hear.

No missionaries would ever say we aren't Christians, unless it was to qualify that by saying that we prefer the term "Saints". And as for Jesus and SATAN being brothers, I don't knw how many times I've explained this. SATAN is no one's brother, spirit or blood. Especially since Satan will never have a body of flesh and blood. We were all brothers and sisters in spirit in the pre-existence. Including Lucifer BEFORE he became Satan.

Nothing has changed in the last 30 years.

And even if we give you scripture fom the Bible to back up what we beleive, you will just say "That'sn ot what it's says".

So I took a look at Josephlied.com.

I have to say that it was like reading a manuscript of the game "Broken-Telephone" which when a phrase is passed along to people it gets switched or misunderstood and is interpreted to be completely far from the original message. Fortunately there is an original and verifiable source.

If you want truth, you should KNOW where to ask:

- Call a representative of the church
- Contact someone from church's official website:

www.lds.org

- Invite the missionaries over for a chat, the standards from 30 years ago to present day have changed for willing young men and women who want to go on a mission...so you might get someone who actually is dedicated to his/her job.

If you want answers go to the source, don't try to go a round-about avenue if you are sincere about getting somewhere and getting true answers and not just opinions as you will on Yahoo.

As you can see, I'm not laying any doctrine on you, but I am encouraging you to research the information you want for yourself.

Look at this, please. It will open your eyes even more:

In reply to La Cachas's comment I would like to say the following: I have no reason to doubt that the author of the website www.josephlied.com did careful research in order to arrive at the conclusions he is sharing with us. He has no grudge to bear against the Mormon Church, was a Returned Missionary and an active member before he arrived at the truth. On the other hand, the Mormon Church and its current representatives naturally do not want their investigators to know the truth. It would quite hamper their conversion efforts, I suspect.

First, just as an interesting note, Deuterononmy 4:2 mentiones the same overall thing. (It has nothing to do with my answer, really; I just thought I'd toss that out there, since most people who talk about that don't mention that verse for some strange reason...)

As for how I respond when asked about the "not adding onto or taking away from the word of God" scripture from Revelation, I simply point out that it (and Deuterononmy 4:2, of course!) says that MAN (here meaning all people, not just adult males) shall not add on to or take away from the word of God. It does NOT say that GOD shall not add on to or take away from the word of God (and after all, who are we to tell God what He can and can't do?).

Joseph Smith lied. the chruch is willing to cover up the truth> to keep members. Leaders of the chruch are leading people from Jesus Christ.

I hate to answer your question this way but you have so many false staements in your question that the only way I can answer it is by quoting a line from Jack Nicholson.
"You want the truth, You want the truth. You can't handle the truth."
