I guess I'm just knew to Y!A, but every once in a while people will type in the word *drink* after their comment. What does that mean? Its not some kind of new drinking game is it because alcohol and thinking don't mix very well.

As you see it is a Top 10 standard issue. If you stay on here long enough you'll see those questions posted over and over and as most of the time a simple definition of the word "atheist" would answer the question, it seemed a drink was in order.

Now I'm sure that more than the atheists drink so you are welcome to drink with us. But you are correct, alcohol and thinking don't mix well. But my ability to go to the dictionary and cut and paste the definition of atheist can occur no matter what the alcohol. Though often by the end of the night, our livers make us leave the R&S board.

(Hey you gotta have something to make you leave. We are too addicted to leave on our own)

Basically there are certain "questions" that appear several times a day. Rather than answer them for the gazillionth time, people have turned it into a drinking game.

Here are some of the questions:

Why are Atheists posting in this section
Atheists, do you realize you are going to hell
Why don't athiests have any morals
If we are descended from monkeys, why are there still monkeys.
Pascal's Wager
Watchmaker analogy

There's a couple of others I forget. You also have to watch for subtle variations (especially the last two) as people try to sneak them by in disguise.

Grab a bottle and play along!

It's the Pascal's Wager drinking game, anytime someone asks a question that is a variation on Pascal's Wager or another question that has been posted a million times like "Why do Atheists hang out on a religion forum?" everybody takes a shot.

Drink when anyone asks:

Why are atheists on R&S?
Do atheists have morals/funerals/weddings?
Wouldn't it be better/safer to believe?
If we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

Or any variations of the above.

I think of the drinking game as a FAQ on a site that doesn't permit stickies. If you get a bunch of people drinking to your question, it's one of those that gets asked every hour or so by someone who thinks they're being original.

I'm not sure of the details but a lot of the regulars have created a Pascal's Wager Drinking Game.

Here's the info on Pascal's Wager.

I'm not sure how to play the game as I don't drink, lol

I beg to differ my friend.....I am my most eloquent when I have been drinking. Speaks to my lack of confidence I would imagine. It may help if you ignore the "drink" tag....and focus on how the answer submitted instead. I am new to this myself, so new that I do not designate my answer as "alcholol inspired" ....Perhaps I should start now...laughing.
A great man once said that "Beer is God's proof that he loves us and wants us to be happy"
Who said that?
Benjamin Franklin......

yep, that's the Y!A R+S drinking game--whenever somebody posts a question as to why atheists are here or referencing Pascal's wager you drink--you'll be wasted in under an hour, guaranteed!
