He had better ways of passing his message than writting it down in a book

His teachings would still last many generations without him writting it down...

My husband had a great explanation for this. Because Jesus was considered a Rabbi (http://www.biblegateway.com/keyword/?search=Rabbi&version1=31&searchtype=all&spanbegin=47&spanend=55)
although he had no formal teaching http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=50&chapter=7&verse=14&end_verse=16&version=31&context=context

, he was a learned man. In fact, he met with the Religious leaders at age 12 and they were amazed as his understanding of scripture (Luke 2:41-52 http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke%202:41-52;&version=31;)

So it makes me wonder if Jesus actually had any formal training. If that is the case, I'm not sure if anyone besides the official rabbis are able write a book.

One thing my husband said, was that the reason that Jesus probably never had a book saved for future generations was that if today, we had a book written by him personally, it would be worshipped in much the same way as the Shroud of Turin. And that is what Jesus wanted to avoid.

He spent 3 yrs training 12 men to go out and teach. When the time came for Him to leave home He was very very busy from sun up to sun down. Thousands followed Jesus in those short 3 yrs. He left them the Holy Spirit so they would remember what He said and power came upon them.

This is my opinion. Why should he waste his time writing a book when he knew his apostles would do it? He spent His time setting the example for the apostles while they observed and wrote what He did.

His words are preserved with the books we do have. He also still gives his children direction through his church.
