OK guys please please please stop giving advice about medication. This person is 14 years old, Im a chem engineer and studied pharm.. THIS IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU By the way, sleeping pills are the most easily addictive medication you can ever take. Please stay away from that stuff at all costs, once you start using it, you WONT be able to fall asleep naturally. My best advice is to stick to a very regular routine. How do you feel when you miss a complete night of sleep? Is the following night any easier to fall sleep? If you are really suffering, skip tonight, and try to go to sleep at around 11pm tomorrow night. Make sure to wake up exactly 7 hrs later, try for 6 am. If you wake up earlier, then you will tire out by the end of the day. Make sure you dont exercise before you are supposed to go to sleep. Youll want to relax as much as possible, no loud music, video games, etc. Maybe take a nice hot shower or bath to relax you. (Cold temperature keep you awake, hot tends to make people drowsy) Keep your room warm, lots of blankets too. Oh- cut the caffeine out of your diet. Also be aware that medication and/or any diet supplements that you might be taking can cause you to stay awake. If you are into yoga or meditation then there are alot of visualization and breathing techniques that can relax you when you are laying down. Breathe deep and imagine calm places- woods, rivers, or anything you personally find relaxing. GL- I know this is probably very frustrating, but getting past this naturally is very important, especially at your age. Im not a doctor so me telling you to skip a night is probably not great advice either, but it will be immediately effective for tomorrow night. I can however vouch for the harm that all these medications can do, so please be careful, and reconsider some of the advice that I have seen on your page.

I have the same problem. I can't turn my mind off. So in the summer I use a fan & watch the blades go around & before I know it I'm asleep. My most restorative sleep is in the summer. In the winter I watch a lava lamp or pray with my eyes closed laying down. As much as I hate to admit it I don't pray long before falling asleep.
I had the same problem as a kid and I always had better grades in the spring because I'd lay there watching the fan blades & go to sleep.
I've been told by a therapist an active mind like that is very intelligent. That often it takes some mindless distraction to turn it off. So those are my solutions.

You can solve your problem in 2 ways:
1) Loose weight fast and get over with it. The fastest way is to take the alkaline liquid diet. You just need to endure a few days.
2) Remove the acid from your food. Eat only alkaline and your body will no longer able to create fats without the acid. Eat only alkaline food. Even the tap water that you drink can be acidic because of the chlorine in it.
Fats are nothing more than stored acid. If you continue to take acidic food, even with exercise you cannot get rid of fats. Therefore you must solve the weight problem at the source : eating acidic food. By taking alkaline food, you prevent the intake of acid to create more fats. Besides doing exercise, you must eat only alkaline food.
Read the book "pH miracle for weight loss". See photos of people losing weight at ease. If you want to loose weight super fast, there is an alkaline liquid diet. According the book, people are loosing 10 pounds or more within the first 8 days. Go to the website below to see which food (and even fruits) that are acidic.

it sounds like you may have an eating disorder and might need to seek some therapy for that. mean while try to think about nothing when you go to bed. you are a teenager and have an excelent metabolism. you should not worry about what you are eating. you should be more concerned about your health and well being. try to meditate before you go to bed or a nice hot bath and just clear your mind and try to do the best you can in school. you want to do your best in school other wise it haunts you the rest of your life. so tell your parents and have them get you to a therapist and that will probably help. good luck

Routine helps. Go to bed at exactly the same time every night, try to wake up at the same time, and don't take naps during the day. Also, don't do anything in bed besides sleep. Don't read or listen to music or whatever. Eventually, hopefully, your body will come to associate your bed with just sleep and i hope it will get easier for you- just a suggestion. Physical exercize helps too.

Try to relax before you go to bed, and think of something simple, like a field of flowers, it works for me, and you can also take two tylenols an 1 hour before you go to bed, see if that works.
Scientists engaged in human sleep research have are leaning towards the idea that bananas and sex is the most efficient way to get rid of insomnia.

It sounds like you are becoming obsessive about this topic, maybe you do need to worry about what you eat and maybe you don't, but I would try to seek some health advise so that maybe you can stop having these fears that haunt you and start taking positive steps to live in a more fulfilling life. If you are happy about what you are doing then it seems to me that you wouldn't be having these kinds of issues.

ok ...i sometimes have this same problem. So what i have found to help is make sure that you dont have any caffiene or sugar at least 1hr before you go to bed. Then once i get it bed i try to listen to some soft music, and it helps me to forget bout everything.
