When I read some of the answers by LDS members I get two complete different stories. One person says that Jesus is the founder of the LDS faith and another says Joseph Smith was the founder of the LDS church. Now I see why the religion is so mixed up. I have a friend in hiding because of the "blood covenant" he took. he fears for his life. If the LDS church is christian why isn't Christ a part of their teachings? Tell the truth but that will never ever happen will it?

Joseph Smith started the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-day Saints. We beleve it is the restoration of the church as it taught anciently. The founder of the FIRST church was JEsus Christ, and we believe He is the HEAD of our church.

As for your friend, first of all, he didn't take a blood covenant. He made a covnenat and promised not to reveal it. I don't know who he's hiding from. No one in the church would ever kill anyone for revealing anything in the temple. If tey did, there'd be MILLIONS of dead anti-Mormons and former members. He no doubt says he'shiding out, just to impress you.

And of COURSE Christ is part of ourteahings, He'sthe MAJOR topi of conversation.

First of all you DO have mixed stories. Joseph Smith restored the church to the earth. It was in full existence during the time of Christ and after he was crucified, it was taken away from the earth. There is no such thing as a "blood covenant" with the LDS church. We make sacred, not secret, covenants and promises to the Lord. There is no reason why your friend should be in hiding because of the LDS church.

There are a lot of answers on here that are EXTREMELY false and a lot that are very true. Now you believe what you want, but if you truly want to find the right answer, get a Book of Mormon and read it for yourself. It has the full account of Joseph Smith's experience and we DO NOT change anything from the Bilbe. We study it right along with the Book of Mormon. It's just another testament to the BIble and to Christ. Go to lds.org and you can get a copy for free. You don't have to do anything else. Read it for yourself and YOU decide which of our opinions is the "right"one. And if you have any further questions, contact the missionaries in your area. They will answer anything you need and they will NOT pressure you to do anything you don't want to do. If you don't believe what they are telling you, you can ask them to leave and they will bother you no more. But if you DO believe what they are saying, they will keep working with you and help you answer all of your questions.

I don't think you should rely on the Answers community to give a true and fair answer. Do your own research, find out for yourself.

I know what I believe and this church is NOT a cult!!! It is the reason my life is so great!!

GOD LUCK!!!

First Joseph Smith was the Leading Man in charge of bringing for the LDS church...Perhaps you are talking to two different sects of the religion...I am sorry for whatever sect your friend was involved with but I can assure you that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints Does not impliment a "Blood covenant". But then again you would never believe that...oh and about the Christ thing look at the name of the Church and the subheading to the book of mormon...might help...

Jesus Christ is the founder of the LDS faith. It is his truth that was restored through Joseph Smith. The prophet Joseph Smith was the first one of this dispensation or time period, so he can often be considered the founder of the faith even though he was only the tool by which it was brought about.

WHAT THE FU#K? they have no blood coven in the LDS church. Mormonism was founded by Joseph smith in Palmyra, new york. they studied the bible which is about Jesus and also the book of Mormon which was about the prophets afterwards and the Resurrection of Jesus. this is the book the Joseph smith had found in the hills while praying. as to that blood coven thing with your friend, i would say he is a satan worshiper.

Both statements wouldn't be wrong - Jesus Christ restored the Church through the Prophet Joseph Smith.

Um, your friend sounds like he suffers from sever paranoia. Has he ever been checked out for that?

The Mormon religion was founded less than two hundred years ago by a man named Joseph Smith. He claimed to have received a personal visit from God the Father and Jesus Christ and told that all churches and their creeds were an abomination. Joseph set out to impose a brand-new religion that claims to be the “only true church on earth.” The problem with Mormonism is that it contradicts, modifies, and expands on the Bible. Christians have no reason to believe that the Bible is not true and adequate. To truly believe in and trust God means to believe in His Word. And all Scripture is inspired by God, which means it comes from Him (2 Timothy 3:16).

Well it certainly was not Jesus Christ.
Joseph Smith was the founder of The Mormon Church. He had something like 34 or 35 wives. Many of them were already married. I believe that Joseph was the only one who saw the Golden Tablets. Once upon a time etc. It would seem to me Joseph was a control freak with a severe pussy problem. It is amazing that anyone would follow a person like this but they do.

U get completely different stories because they are a false religion.
The founder of their church is not Jesus for sure.
Beside the Bible they have another book (the book of Mormon). They don't trust the Bible that much. i met a few Mormons who said that they didn't believe that a book from the Bible was inspired by God. So, how can they call themselves real Christians. They say they have the true religion. Hard to believe that. They also have some beliefs that makes u dizzy.

The "founder" was Joseph Smith. And to be truthful with you........Jesus Christ has absolutely nothing to do with the LDS. The LDS "church" is certainly not Christian, it is a pseudo-Christian "cult", for the lack of a better word.

My suggestion is........keep as far away from it as you can.
