I found a pill sitting on my sister's dresser, which in and of itself worries me because she has a little 3 1/2 year old daughter, who may think it's candy or something and ingest it. So, that frightens me that my sister just leaves pills, no matter what they are, lying around within a small child's grasp.

Anyway, I was wondering if someone could help me identify what it is. It's a white, very long, oval tablet. It is scored on one side, and on the other side it says "VP 005". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your answers!

Zotex GP is a cold medication with guiafenesin and phenylephrine VP 005.

One tablet would not be deadly to a child, but it would make them uncomfortable and irritable.

Large white tablet 70/N imprint: Metformin 500mg - antidiabetic tablet small round tablet WPI 339: Diclofenac 75mg- NSAID (same class as ibuprofen) Small white round tablet 2 scores/K3 imprint - promethazine 25mg-antiemetic/anti-nausea Small blue tablet M D6 imprint - Dicyclomine 20mg -for IBS (irritable bowel syndrome- anticholinergic) Small tablet 13mm - If its a legit tablet, must have an imprint by law Your friend the nurse has no idea what she is talking about and I would advise her not to speculate or self-identify drugs with which she is unfamiliar. All FDA approved drugs manufactured are required to have imprints for identification which are accessed online for healthcare professionals. The web is obviously the most accurate exchange of current health care information and is utilized by physicians and pharmacists daily to ensure proper patient care from relevant primary data base sources.

Initially is sounds like vicoprofen which is a narcotic. Try looking in the drug database since you know exactly what the pill looks like.

I also listed the link to Zotex GP but could not find a picture to verify

Good for you for finding it and removing it from your niece's reach.

As for identifying it, I checked for it here; www.drugs.com/imprints.php and it did not find any matches. This site is a prescription drug identifier that is based on appearance and imprint. The site suggested that it could be either an over the counter drug (Tylenol, ibuprofen, cold remedy, allergy med, etc.) or a generic that wouldn't be in their database.

Sounds like a pain killer or antibiotic to me, based on your description, but I can't tell you any more than that. Sorry!

I looked on this site and it could identify the code on your pillhttp://www.drugs.com/pill_identification.html Maybe you aren't reading it correctly. I would just throw it away. Then check to see if she has more somewhere. Maybe making the comment that you found a pill on the floor and you tossed it because your neice was looking at it. Then ask her to be careful about her pills.
