I have blasphemed more times than I can count. According to Luke 12:10, this sin is unforgivable. "Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven."

Doesn't it follow that I am damned to Hell for eternity, and there's nothing I can do about it?

Your behaving like blasphemy against the spirit is funny, and it seems that you are happy you did.

What do you mean by you "have blasphemed more times than I can count"? As you pointed out, Luke 12 says, "Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man [that would be Jesus] will be forgiven, but those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven." Now, what was happening when Jesus said this was that some religious leaders were calling Him demon-possessed.

Jesus was not demon-possessed -- He was filled with God's Holy Spirit. (You may have heard about when He was baptised, and the Holy Spirit came down to fill Him, and looked kinda like a dove coming down from heaven.) But these other guys were calling Him demon-possessed, and so were in effect calling the Holy Spirit of God (who is One third of the Trinity) just a dirty demon, and that's wronger than wrong.

How have you blasphemed the Holy Spirit? That's a pretty particular thing to do! Jesus said that blaspheming Him (Jesus) would be forgivable; isn't that what you've actually done?

If so, pray for forgiveness -- Jesus has already said that He will be willing to forgive you.

Grieving away The Spirit What a load of cobblers. The reason we think this is possible comes from a total misunderstanding of what The Spirit is all about. The Spirit of eYSHUA is the personification of Love. As mortals we have a limited understanding of the concept but we do understand to some extent love of family members’ especially parental love for children. In fact I am sure most other people understand that concept a bit better than I do. We can not really understand unconditional Love although many of us claim to know what it is.

Consider just what it would take to make you as a parent hate your children and then magnify your love 1x10100 . Perhaps this is a numerical notation that is new to you. It means 1with 100 zeros following it. Considering the vastness of our cosmos perhaps this number is a bit too small.

You are perhaps drawing the wrong conclusion from the scripture.

Father, Son, Holy Spirit. These three are One. Forgiveness comes from the Holy spirit. If you yourself blaspheme or deny the existence of the Holy Spirit, and if we are in fact judged by the way we judge others, then what other choice is there?

If you deny or blaspheme the spirit, then forgiveness is impossible in your mind.

Sinning against the holy spirit is something you aren't even equipped to do as yet! Just repent of whatever you know wasn't your best choices in life and go about your business from now on, to make the very best choice that you can make one choice at a time, and God who sees your heart, better than you do yourself, has already forgiven you. In the name of his son Jesus I pray for his peace to be with you always...

Well, not to get all weirdly Christain on you (the only unforgivable sin at Yahoo Answers, it seems), but the blaspheming of which the Bible speaks is in essence rejecting God's ability to save, or to bring what Christians call conviction. In other words, the only unforgivable sin is to constantly reject the working of God's spirit to bring you back to God. So, no, you're not toasty. You probably need to go find a good flesh-and-blood Christian to talk this over, since most people here use their anonymity to misguide and insult people.

Hi Malted Milquetoast. The Bible teaches us that blasphemy is declaring Satan sent Jesus Christ and that blasphemy is the only sin that will not be forgiven. In Mark 3:22 God tells us:

"And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebub,” and, “By the ruler of the demons He casts out demons.”

They were convinced the power Jesus used to cast out devils and heal people came from Satan himself. Christ teaches us more about the unpardonable sin of blasphemy in Matthew 12:32:

"...it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come."

Now, a person has to do more than just say Jesus was sent by Satan to commit blasphemy. That person truly has to believe it. The fact that a person is worried about committing blasphemy is a sign that you have not committed blasphemy.

But yes, if you truly believe that Christ was sent by Satan, then you will be condemned to Hell for eternity. Because God tells us that blasphemy is the unforgivable sin.

First, if you are not born again, yes you will be judged.
Second, if you invite Jesus to be Lord of your life and bow your heart to Him, no sin is unforgivable.

The verse you are referring to, since you are worried about it, means you have not done it. It is blaspheme against the Holy Spirit and the fact that your worried about it testefies to the fact that you have not done it. Those who do it have no concern about God at all.
You have misunderstood the verse.

That is not the unforgivable sin, that time has not come yet, you can repent tell God that your sorry and need him to wash you clean and ask Jesus to Come into your life and you will get his Holy spirit and all your sin is forgiven. The unforgiven sin is at the end when Antichrist takes us captive and the holy spirit wants to use you as a witness and is the very reason you were born and at that moment you blasphemy the holy ghost by not letting him speak through you to Antichrist, you have not committed it so be earnest and get right with him and start reading your bible start in John. read this page it will tell you all;

A sin against the Holy Spirit is not the same as using God's name in vain as in swearing. But you should clean up your act all the same.

Anyone who sins and after that he's sorry can be forgiven. God is love. He wants us all to be saved but that won't happen becasue some people are just too stubborn to believe that he exists.
And there is no hell. When we die we just die. There's nothing after death.
Anyway, I'm sure that you are very sorry....
