Hi Penelope P. There is no such thing as ghosts. When we die there is a separation of the soul from the body. For the person who has been saved, at the moment of their salvation they received a new resurrected soul. This soul (upon the death of their body) goes into Heaven to be with Jesus Christ. Then, on the last day, these souls along with Jesus will return and receive their resurrected bodies.
For those who are not saved (upon the death of their body), their soul also leaves but instead of going into Heaven it goes to a place of silence. There it remains in darkness and silence until the last day when Jesus returns and then all of the unsaved will be judged and cast into Hell.
God tells us in the Bible we all will stand for judgment. In Romans 14:9-10 we read:
"For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ."

In the English language we use the word spirit to denote several different things.
First we refer to an attitude. The spirit of love. The spirit of hate, etc.
Second we refer to something we can not see but suppose exists in some reality. Angels fall into this category.
Third we refer to ghosts, the spirits of people who have died.
I will not use the definition of an attitude here because in this discussion we are talking about entities that may be aware of what we say and do outside the corporeal reality.
First we have the ministering spirits.
Hebrews 1:14 These are what we choose to call angels. Apparently from Bible texts and anecdotal evidence they can appear as ordinary people but often have extraordinary powers.
When attempting to define ghosts we must determine what seems to be their purpose. If their purpose is destruction and conflict then they are unclean spirits of the kind called devils. Ghosts that do no harm may just be confused souls that do not know what has happened to them.

I don't think of them as the same thing but that's a conclusion I came to as a child. (In 'reality', I think they are supposedly the same thing though) To me a ghost was something that 'haunts', you know, just hangs around for some reason. A spirit was something I though of as something we all have inside of ourselves (like a soul, I guess) and it doesn't necessarily do much of anything except leave our bodies when we die. For example, I thought that a spirit would 'become' a ghost if it chose to stick around a particular place on earth rather than zip off into the universe or 'heaven'. Maybe a ghost is what you would call a spirit that materializes on earth and is suddenly able to be seen, heard, etc.. I don't know.
Yeah, for some reason I do believe in them even though I'm not religious nor do I know anything about what happens to us when we die. I guess I still have some strange belief in superstitious stuff like I did as a child.

An understanding of spirits might help with your understanding of ghosts. We all have a spirit. Spirit is matter, but more refined or pure. A spirit is who we are since in this life our spirit is incased in a tabernacle of dust and blood. When we die, our spirit leaves our body, but continues to live. In fact, there is evidence indicating that our spirit has always lived. We lived as spirit before we came to this sphere to live. The parent of our Spirit of course is God. The parent of our physical body is our earthly parents. We also have evidence that when Jesus died, his spirit left the body and then was resurrected (body and spirit back together) in a perfect glorified frame. Since his resurrection others have been resurrected also. They are NEVER ghosts because they are too busy doing other things. We have also been given the promise that our body and spirit will be resurrected and that it will happen to all men regardless of religious affiliation, action or lack of action, etc. What is important is that we live the best life we can by following the good laws and rules men have established (religious and society). If we have lived a good life by being good, then we continue to live in a state that we will be happiest in. That will mean that all the Lutherans, Catholics, Baptists, etc. can live in the post mortal world they have created. Some people have created a world for lingering on. We call these people ghosts. They are spirits in all cases that have NOT been resurrected, but not necessarily good in every case. There are also spirits who never received a body. They follow Satan and deceive us by acting like ghosts, resurrected individuals, etc. to deceive us. Ghosts, good or bad, have some power to influence us, trick us, etc. However, many of us have power to crush them, cast them out, etc.
Hope this helps in your quest.

I do believe in them. I actually had to move out of an apartment because there was a spirit or ghost (I don't know if there is a difference) living there. Each morning she would appear when I woke up to go to work. In the afternoons I would return to the house, the water facets would be turned on, doors would shake (one in particular), and doors and windows that I had closed would be open. Creepy! I was out of there in 2 weeks.

Yes, I believe in them. Ghosts are spirits of the dead. The rest of the spirits are..... something else. But they aren't human.

According to scripture, when people die they either go to be w/ the Lord in "abraham's bosom" or await judgement in sheol. therefore, ghosts of people who have died do not exist. Spirits on the other hand can either be angelic or demonic. That is why we christians are told to "test the spirits".

To ask alot of people ,they'd say "Oh,they are demons immitating people".
Sorry,I've seen a couple and they are ghosts.I've also seen them do things like turn on a school water fountain and a few other things while I was with witnesses.
I just think they are passing through our dimension somehow .I believe "Out of the body at home with the Lord" but that is for the Christian.

Yes they are the same things. Spirits and ghosts are the same name for dead people who haven't crossed over yet (or who cross back and forth). Yes, I very, very much believe in them and have experienced them.
