The kickdown band is adjustable from outside the trans case. It is the large nut above the front(?) cooler line fitting on the left side of the case. The proceedure is to loosen the nut, then thighten the adjustment screw up to 72 inch pounds of torque, then back off the screw (((A specific number))) of turns and tighten the nut. Each vehicle has a different adjustment, ranging from 2 to 7 turns. You could call the dealer for this spec for your application. You may need special sockets to get the torque wrench on the adjustment screw, depending on the transmission year etc..

The adjusting screw is located on the left front behind the cooler lines. If necessary, remove the lines to get to the screw and locknut. I made a wrench to hold the locknut by bending the box end of a wrench almost 90 degrees. Loosen the locknut, and turn the adjusting screw out a few turns to make sure it turns freely. Tighten it to 72 inch pounds and back it out 2½ turns. While holding the screw to keep it from turning, tighten the locknut to 30 foot ponds of torque.
