I don't drink and I've never been drunk. One of my roommates went to a party last night, and then drove home. I despise people who drink and drive, so I'm kinda upset that she drove after being "completely wasted," as one person there put it. My other roommate, who was with her, said she made sure she had sobered up before driving, but they were only there for a few hours. I'm figuring that if they got there at around 11, drank for a few hours, and then came home at 4, that wasn't enough time for the effects to wear off. Since I'm no expert in this kind of situation, I was wondering if she was putting herself or anyone else in danger by driving last night. I live in California, and was part of the Every 15 Minutes program that they do in high school. I saw a lot of my friends "die" during that 24 hour period, and I myself was one of the walking dead. It's had an incredible impact on my life which is why I'm so adament about not drinking and especially not driving while intoxicated.

If you go to http://www.every15minutes.com/ you can learn more about the program. It's a super emotional experience for everyone involved. And it really has had an impact on my life. Even though all of the accident scenes and deaths were simulated, it felt so incredibly real, that I never want to experience anything like that ever again. It was an emotional rollercoaster...

She was definately still over the limit if she was indeed completely wasted. It takes several hours (more than 4 or 5)for the effects to wear off and even when you feel sober your blood alcohol level would still show up as over the limit. How does it feel to have an imbecile as a friend?

Generally the body is capable of ridding itself of one glass worth of alcohol per hour, so if you spent two hours and had 8 drinks, there could still be alcohol in your system for up to 6 hours after you stopped drinking.
There is no way to speed this up. Coffee wont do it, nor fresh air, or any of the home cures. And the problem is when drinking you are unable to accurately assess just how much it has affected you.
So depending on how much she drank, and it sounds like a lot if she was wasted, she would not have been sober enough to drive, putting herself, any passangers and every other road user at risk.

Yes she would have been still way over the legal limit to drive.

Alcohol takes 24-48 hours to clear from the urine, and 8-24 hours from the blood.

If you have access to a printer, print the page out from the link below, about how long it takes drugs and alcohol, to clear from the blood and urine.

Then give her this, and that they should designate someone as driver who is not going to drink, for the night. Be sure that they all take turns each weekend, this keeps them legal, and everyone returns safely. Or if they can not avoid alcohol, they take a taxi.

It is typically one hour per drink. So if you had 4 drinks in 20 minutes, you need 4 hours to get over it. So your roommate was probably driving under the influence. I am glad to see that you are making educated decisions.

The verse from Ezekiel the word "hunger" could be taken literally or it could mean spiritually. A spiritual hunger. I never heard of anyone beating their wife and kids because they were smoked up. I never heard of anybody dieing from marijuana related illnesses. I never heard of anyone that od-ed from pot. The only reason it's not legal is because the government hasn't figured out a good way to keep people from growing their own and you could be right. The government wouldn't frown on tax-free money too.

Depends on how much you drank. It could take an hour, 2 hours,
or every 24 hours. The smart think to do is not to drink at all.

You are very wise to realize the effects of driving while under the influence. So many think that the horrific consequences only happen to someone else. I would say your friend definitely was still under the influence when she drove. You are very intelligent!!!
