what can i do about my downstairs neighbors partying up till 4 am loud music banging and everything?

i live in an upstairs apartment with a 7 month old, thurs thru sunday the people down stairs play their music loug with the bass so loud you can feel it through the floor i have to turn my tv up to hear it they like to talk loud as hell i can hear them word for word if i try to bang on the floor i get them banging all night long this goes on till 4 am and i have work early in the morning and lose tons of sleep because of this...i know there drinking and smokin pot down there because i can hear them talking about it. I had one night called the cops at 2am because of them being loud and said i know there are underage kids down there drinking well 6 cop cars came and all the kids ran these are kids from say 17 to 24 im 24 and have no problem with the partying but i have to work and i have a 7 month old that cant sleep either and they always wake her up every other time i have called the cops they never come i have told the landlady she says to keep calling the cops she has called them

and she has left them messages and they stop for that weekend and then start doing it all over again...i dont want to go down there because i know they are drunk and how the react to me banging...what can i do about this??

Call the police...everytime, everynight. Maybe they'll get the idea.

Is moving an option? If your landlady is understanding of your situation and needs and happens to have another unit available, perhaps she'd work with you. Unfortunately you always run the risk of inconsiderate tenants surrounding you when you rent. In an ideal world, these people *should* be fined and held responsible for their actions. But it's obvious the police in your area aren't going to be aggressive with this particular case so it's probably in your best interest to change what you can about the situation and move on...

If moving isn't an option... You can only do what is within your power ...and that is to keep calling the police each and every time it's happening. You have that right...! Maybe eventually they'll pay attention to you...

Or... this just occured to me... Maybe your landlady could leave more than a "message"... perhaps if she's sympathetic to you... she would be willing to issue a WARNING... that if the noise complaints don't stop... They'll have to find another place to live!!

Well i guess go and tell them to shut up, though im sure youve tried. My friend had a girl (she lived in our street) calling up from like 7 at night to 3 in the morning. My dad had the idea of pulling down the wire at the front going to their house, though u wouldnt beleive with how much we (everyone in the street) put up with. we all wanted to murder her! If u wrap a rope around the right cord out the front, it pulls down the phone line and the police dont do much!! the most she got was cort orders over about 5 years. You are defending urself pretty much. im sure they dont want the electricion out and paying the bill all the time. they might learn if theres a lead or something to pull down!! Goodluck.

there's nothing you can do if your landlady doesn't want to take action. what you can do it keep on calling the cops, eventually someone will get caught.

i would advise against this, but carrying out video surveillance may help in apprehending them. try not to go too far in this, because you could be breaking the law or worse, getting into a confrontation with them.

I had this problem myself. I kept complaining to the landlord and they just would say call the police. It didnt work......so, call me childish, but the next morning when theyd be quiet/sleeping(probably from being tired of partying), I would make just as much noise. They got the picture after a few times.

Complain to the police. If you have a lease this is a viable reason to get out of it.

just get the cops to set up a warning on them and if they dont understand tell the cop to jail them.good luck!!!
