To be honest with you, I don't know. I say this because I do not know what kind of a person I would have been then. I would hope that I would try. If I was the same person I was then as I have been so far in my life..well, I was not always a christian..but I do not think I could have stood by and watched anyone being unfairly treated. I have often thought about this question and I cringe.

Back then, I'm sure a lot of people didn't realize that the Crucifiction HAD to happen, and I probably would have been one of them, so yes, I think I might have tried to do something. Of course, that doesn't mean that I would have suceeded (I'm sure that Christ would have stopped me, like He halted Peter).

Brendan: When Peter was a Disciple [learner] under Jesus Christ, he zealously, told Jesus that he would prevent any harm coming to Him [Jesus] (see: Mark 8th chapter, verse 31 & verse 32) - then, notice how Jesus dealt with Peter's "hero" complex (verse 33 of same) . Herein, lies the answer to your question. It was really Satan - using Peter to attempt to interfere with God the Father's Devine redemption Plan for all of mankind ever born, past, present and future.

Probably not. After all, had I lived back then, I would not have the knowledge that I do now, so I wouldn't know anything about the cruisifixion. Also, even with the knowledge of what I know now, I wouldn't stop it because it was meant to happen to save us, and by stopping it, I would be going against God's will.

NO-it was ordained by God in order that mankind (whosoever will...) be redeemed back into the relationship that was lost in the Garden. Several gave this type of answer and they are correct. Nothing and no one could have stopped it, other than the Lord who, as He said, freely laid down His life.
Bet you have a hard time seledcting the answerer for this one!

When I was a young Christian I used to think 'If only I were there..'
But the thing is ,He came to die and take our sins on Himself. He said "I have the power to lay down my life and the power to take it back again".
It wasn't the dying part that upset Him (as in the Garden of Gethsemane) but the fact that He had to take upon His sinless self all our wretched, filthy sins.
So,no I wouldn't try.It was God's will for Him to die and ressurect to the right hand of the Father.

No. Remember, when Peter drew his sword and attacked one of the guards who came to arrest Jesus, Jesus rebuked him. Jesus said if he wanted to escape what was coming, he could have called on 12 legions of angels to come to his rescue. Without Jesus dying on the cross, we would still be dead in our sins.
Anyway, most of the people, including his disciples, didn't really understand what was happening. That's why they hid after his burial. They didn't remember He said He would rise again.

No. I would have been very sad, but I am certainly not brave enough to try to stop a bunch of soldiers. Also, I am not brave enough to take His place or join Him on a cross of my own. Also, it had to happen, and a lot of his disciples at the time knew that. He knew that.

Definitely. If this man was truly Gods son and I had seen his miracles with my own eye then yes. He was brought on to earth to save us all so the least I could do was to at least try and save his.
