My mother in law was wonderful. She has passed away and my father in law has re-married. My new mother in law is just as wonderful. I am one lucky lady to have two great moms in law.
I hope I am a good one to my children's spouses. I try never to butt into their lives and never criticize them. I help only when asked, and love having them over. Family life is really good!

yes. In fact, she & my father-in-law are (literally) two of the main reasons why I married my husband.
My mom had in-law difficulties; and when I began dating, she told me "meet his parents before you marry!!" So when a relationship started to get serious, I examined my guy's relationship with his parents, & also I met them.
My mom-in-law isn't perfect; we've had our arguments. But one or both of us apologises, & we really do enjoy each other, even though we are quite different. I hope I am as good a mom-in-law someday as she has been for me. It's been 23 years, so far ! For the last 21 years, we've lived within 10 miles of them, & have had no problems.
...I think one of the reasons my in-laws are so great, is that they saw how one of my father-in-laws' brothers actually broke up his daughter's marriage by being very rude & interfering; & they didn't want that to happen with their kids.

I wish I had a great mother-in-law. Mine isn't even decent. After we got married she told my husband she hopes we get divorced or that I die in a car accident. Since then we only see her once or twice a year, and the last time I saw her she told me I ruined her family and she never wants to see me again. I didn't like the part about ruining her family, but I'm thrilled she never wants to see me again, and I am going to devote my life to honoring her wishes.

Well we will see,so far I have been with her son for almost ten years and she has told me that she loves me on several occasions.I think she will also be a great mother in law, mainly because she is an understanding person and we don't put her in our relationship!

Yes. I am definately very lucky. I consider her as my mom because we are closer than my own mother and I ever were.

I'm lucky enough to not have one. She passed long ago...I heard she was quite the troublemaker in her past too.

You are certainly lucky...my relationship with the MIL is strained. I avoid her as much as possible.

My mother-in-law is 88 years old and we still go to the mall together. She's fabulous!

Good for you! Nope, this is my second time around and both of mine were crap. I'm not sure why, though. Interesting. My husband loves my mom, though. At least one of us should be happy.
