Clearly you need to get rid of it and that means tracking the sucker down and deleting all the files related to it. The quarantine folder may be only holding part of it and it is still running somehow. I would suggest that you log on as the Administrator in Safe Mode (press the F8 key during startup, I keep rapidly pressing the key make sure I catch it), then try to track it down and delete whatever you can. If you run a Spyware checker or an Antivirus program in safe mode it might be able to catch the program while it is not running. The problem is that Windows can’t delete a program that is currently running and when it appears in your task bar it is doing that.

If you can’t get it off of your computer, and check the Internet before giving up; then you can make it not appear in the Task Bar. Right Click on the Task Bar and call up the Properties option. Then in Windows XP you hit the customize button, it should be the same in Vista. A box will appear that lets you customize what appears in the task bar. The usual selection is “Hide When Inactive.” Click on the file name for that program you don’t want to show up and you will get a drop down box that will let you turn off the icon with the “Always Hide” option. But, doing this won’t stop the program from doing whatever it is doing, you need to get rid of it in case it’s a hostile program and just to get rid of the darn thing so it won’t slow down your processor.

I like the website antivirus.com for finding and fixing viruses. Did you uninstall it from the control panel > add/remove programs?
