old cars are cool but not for everyday drivers. new cars are actually more reliable run longer and are way more safer. older cars only increase in value if they have been restored or are in good condition. if you take a 1970 vw in mint shape it is worth more than it was new. this will probably ring true when that jetta is 30-40 years old if it was in perfect condition it would most likely be worth a lot of money. good luck

You do have a point that new cars depreciate rapidly So In 10 years she'll have an almost worthless old Jetta, and you will have either a pile of rust, that cannot meet any of the 2017 safety or emission regulations OR a valuable antique.

If either of you keep your car or truck for 10 years, you will be way ahead of most people

Both will be worth 0.00 i ten years. New cars are better than old vehicles.

The Jetta is worth more.
