Unfortunatley, that is the only answer I have to give you.
Sorry.

I wish there were more people here on Earth that we could trust. It get depressing to dwell on it. The good news is... That one answer can and will fill your every need and void if you let Him.

Dear eldad9, christianity does not supress sexuality. Obviously you know very little of the Bible. It does say not to be a prostitute or have sex before marriage, but it talks about how important it is and enjoyable it is in a marriage.

When a religion has rules that state that someone must stop being sexual then they are asking way too much. Sex is a very strong animal urge and these religions that demand their priests and nuns to give this up they are asking for trouble. Biologically man's primal urge is to procreate by having morereproductive material and there for the hard wired drive to so those "oats". Women are hard wired to look for the strongest and most potent male. Biology really takes all the humanity out of sex, but it explains more.
Forcing people to be something that they aren't provided the very negative aspects that are surfacing now. As a society we have to let people be themselves or we will always have people acting out in a way that society doesn't like. As a human we have certain needs. What these priests have done isn't right, but neither is their forced celebacy.

fur: Your exaggeration with your terminology of employing the wording "all" gives your question a generalization in your query. Remember; place your trust in GOD - not humans. Sexual abuse is more prominent in families both, in religious practices and a non-religious adherence. Yes; there are SOME church Pastors, who have done this but MOST do not nor never will. This is why cults are dangerous - as so are alcoholic families and families which have untreated sexual-abuse victims such as those in positions of authority like, fathers or mothers (includes Grand parents, uncles - aunts, too !!!)

A pastor or a priest are ordinary people like us. They choose the vocation of spreading and teaching the word and will of GOD, while others choose the vocation of married or family life. So you should trust them equally as your trust your doctor, policeman and others. What I mean is trust your pastor regarding your spiritual salvation as you trust your trust your doctor for your health. If you began to entrust your whole self to your pastor then the problem will begin, same as entrusting your doctor your whole self. There are limitations to all things, that's why the GOD gave us the freedom to choose and decide.

Ministers are human as as such should be thought of that way.
I would not trust a teacher, minister, bus driver.....anyone with my children. It's just common sense.
Parents have to know where their children are and know what they are doing. Maybe you SHOULD be able to let them play at the park alone but lets face reality.....we can't.
Take responsibility and pay attention to what's going on. Teach children to be safe and pay attention.
I don't believe their position makes them become abusers. That is rediculous unless you are suggesting that any of us would do so if we were forced to abstain or live as they do...........It is much more realistic that people who wish to abuse seek positions that will allow them access to victims. (positions of trust where people would usually not suspect them)

In the bible, God tells parents to teach their children the commandments.
No parent is obligated to leave their children alone with any one they don't trust. No parent is obligated to entrust their children to any one that they don't wish to.
Who said that we had to let the professionals teach our children about Jesus?
The professionals don't know any thing more about the gospel of Jesus than any one on the street does.
If you can read, you can tell your children that Jesus healed the sick. You can tell them that he died and rose again from the dead.
If any thing, you can read the parables of Jesus to them, and ask them the questions.
You don't have to "trust" any thing but the gospel.

I like you and most humans today wounder that too at times. I trust no human no farther than I can throw them. Sorry I'm weaker physically than most women today and that is not at all(throwing people I mean). I trust me and the God I chose as my God in me. It is not like this is new in church. Prostitution in pegan culture and in some still practicing churches was and is not unknown. the shock in an American society is we are raised Christain and when we learn the ugly truths that was so covieniently for the conservative to covers advantage, we become seekers of new directions. the one you call your God in you is whom you trust to allow us to trust others. If that seems to fail it is not that that God faied , it is that we are erred.Hug
