A well informed (experienced) answer can shed much light for those who have never seen it. A standard answer, the kind we are all used to, will just give more offense to those who are already turned off by your dogma. Please hold your tongue if you are simply going to repeat what someone has told you.

Well, lets see, the old covenant [old testament- old law] was for the children of Israel. The New Covenant [ new testament- new law] was put into effect when Christ died on the Cross. As with any will and testament, there must first be the death of the testator Hebrews 19:16, it has no strength while the testator lives. Thus nullifying the old law, putting it out of the way. When someone makes a will, then goes back and changes that will, which one do they use when they die??
God Bless

"'The day will come,' says the Lord, 'when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah....But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day,' says the Lord. 'I will put my law in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people" (Jeremiah 31:31,33). Jesus Christ came to fulfill the law of Moses (Matthew 5:17) and create a new covenant between God and His people. The old covenant was written in stone, but the new covenant is written on our hearts, made possible only by faith in Christ, who shed His own blood to atone for the sins of the world. Luke 22:20 says, "After supper, [Jesus] took another cup of wine and said, 'This wine is the token of God's new covenant to save you – an agreement sealed with the blood I will pour out for you.

In the cup. The blood of Jesus shed on the cross as symbolized by the crushing of the grape for wine.

Jer 31
“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah--But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

Luke 22:20
Jesus also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.

jesus gave us the new covenant at the passover/todah meal before he was crucified and was resurrected. the passover meal was thus replaced by the first christians in the eucharist. "this is the cup of my blood,of the new and everlasting covenant"(paraphrasing).

i have researched this extensively and explored alternatives to me this is the most clearest. this site expalins in more detail from scripture the eucharist and the new covenant.
