Stop doing it for a week. If you can make it a week, you're not an alcoholic, and just choose to drink. If you can't make it a week w/o drinking, you're an alcoholic.

The difference between a bottle of beer and an actual cup of whiskey is the amount of alcohol consumed. Beer is 5% alcohol approximately and 12 oz of beer = 1.44 oz of alcohol.
Whiskey is 40% alcohol and 8oz of whiskey = 3.2 oz of alcohol. Depending on your size, gender, and how fast you drink it that whiskey can get you intoxicated to a much greater degree than the beer. And if you are getting that high every day then I would be inclined to think that there is a definite problem going on.

The urge to drink every day could be a problem. It doesn't matter whether it is beer or whiskey or any other alcoholic beverage. Try abstaining from drinking for one day, then two, and so on and so on and see what happens.

Do you feel like you have to drink a beer or cup of whiskey everyday? That's definitely a sign.

No, you could just be Irish or German.

Funny, my family is German and Irish and it didn't matter how much you drank- if you could get to work everyday then you weren't an alcoholic- LOL.... Now, medically- a cup of whiskey would be consider an alcoholic.

If you suspect you are an alcoholic than you probably are. But let's not forget, there are functioning alcoholics everywhere, look at Edward Kennedy!

dude, as long as you work hard everyday, come home and have a couple, dont worry about it. If it starts interfering with your work then you just might want to think twice. Only you can control it dude. Cheers !!
