Remember:
It has to be the potato itself that kills you. None of this secondary influence crap.
And don't say choking. That's just obvious.
Here's an example:
Suffocating in a pool of mashed potatoes.
Hanging from a rope, someone in a helicopter throws a potato at you, which hits your hand causing you to lose your grip, falling to your inevitable death.
etc.

Potatoes grow under the soil as tubers. The tubers are virtually exposed all sorts of nasty bacteria in the soil. You can be killed by a potato if you touch it and you have a wound or an opening in your skin. Bacteria from the tuber might go in and eat their way into your tissues. Many of these pathogens also produce toxins that are heat resistant. Consume a potato and you get really sick. You should also remember that anthrax is found in the soil - connect the dots - you may succumb to it.

Of course, inevitably the plant would also have ways of defending itself, like having alkaloid in it, hence potentially kill the person by slowly posoining the body,

True fact - when the potatoes are being cut to make fast food french fries, they are shot through a machine at a speed of over 100 mph. Tiny blades slice the potato within nanoseconds.

Now, if the potato was somehow misfed and just launched from the machine due to someone paying little attention to detail...the innocent, unsuspecting factory worker is shot in the old noggin with the potato, I'm sure he'd shoot his eye out.

I didn't die, but one time I was making French fries and my hand (on purpose) fell into the grease.

The potato was found to be responsible and was shredded for hash browns.

Speaking of potatoes, is it mashed potatoes and gravy or gravy and mashed potatoes?
