I am a retired therapist. Over my 30 year experience, the greatest gift I ever received was seeing my clients doing better and leading clean, healthy happy lifes. Some of my really appreciative clients would send some nice flowers, or a box of candy. Mostly, professionals just want to know that they made a difference in someones life. If I meet someone that I knew was going to make it if someone just kept supporting her, and encouraging her, I would really go to great lengths to help him or she. A hearlfelt thank you or a card is very much appreciated. I still have every card I received. They are in my memory book. Some people you just never want to forget about and say a prayer for. Therapist gets really involved . may not act like it, but believe me, many nights I have sit and worried over my clients.

"Thank you" goes a long way. While health care providers/professionals are compensated monetarily, they still chose that field because they want to help people. Let them know they made a difference to you. Simply say "thank you".
They say "The best revenge is to live well". This is also true for professionals who care as much as yours seems to. I'm sure they'd love to see you living well, happy and successful. :)

What kind of professional? If it were what is generally considered tip employee, a large tip would be nice. If it were already well paid professional, nice thank you letter for him/her and his/her manager would be nice. Or - you could send a nice "thank you" flower arrangement with a note.

I am a professional, I am not sure what type you are reffering to, but as I bill my time, I don't expect anything else, but a thank you card is great to recieve.
