I know it's illegal to MAKE copies and I know it's illegal to SHARE copies, but are there any laws saying you cannot have an illegal copy in your possession? Also, what are the laws concerning recording from the radio or from an audio stream on a website?

personal use of items you have recorded is considered a time shift of an authorized performance, from net, TV or Radio, which is allowed. Re-selling copies or other further distribution would not be allowed, whether you profit or not.

while it is not illegal to have a copy of music on your computer, the courts generally give RIAA permission to seize it as contraband if they make a showing that it is prima-facia evedence that you participated in illegal distribution, by file sharing for example.
