Not again. Why does some Christian ask this once an hour? There's a search function, please use it. I've already answered this question four times today and I'm sick of it.

Yes and they do and that is one of the funniest, absolutely, ridiculous arguments I have ever heard. The Christian faith, as a whole, is very tolerant of all other groups of people.
And that is evident in our country, because if we weren't things would be a lot different. We are the majority and have been for the entire life of our country.
Most people that come on here claiming to be atheists probably aren't really, just some smart-mouthed kids. But the funniest part about the atheists on here is that they constantly
try to prove something isn't there that they say isn't there to begin with. A "true" atheist could careless about Christian beliefs and wouldn't try to disprove them.

I am an atheist married to a Born-Again Christian. We co-exist. She doesn't force any beliefs on me and vice versa.
We, atheists, only react to sensible (and sometimes stupid) questions asked here.
We only give our opinion and do not suggest that you will suffer in eternity for your delusions.
We do not pose a request NOT to pray as a question.
We do not post an extract from a book as a question.
However, from a personal aspect, I do consider anyone with religious beliefs, or a belief in a supernatural and invisible entity, to be severely deluded, an inhabitant of a fantasy-land and being borderline mentally ill, with no sense of logic, reason or common-sense. I also feel sincerely sorry for them and their distorted views of reality.
Nowhere above have I been rude, just honest. I don't hate christians (insert any religion here), I pity them.
Conversely, why do christians have such a problem with atheists? We are harmless. A little verbose sometimes but, generally, no risk to society at large, which cannot be said of religious folk ... and this label includes the rather naughty muslims.
Christians reacting to atheists in the way that they do, avidly defending their childish beliefs and damning us to hell, is infantile behaviour at best.
Ignore us! If you are so sure that your god is out there, go forth and do your thing BUT keep it out of government, politics as a whole and, especially, education.

Nobody should be allowed to force religion on anyone. You may have not seen christians shove their religion on people but I have. As an atheist I have a moral duty to keep christians from corrupting children with lies and falsehoods. Especially when they tell them they will burn forever in a place that doesn't exist if they don't tow the line. That, without a doubt is child abuse and has to be stopped.

That's a generalization of an entire group of people. Certain Atheists may be that way but not all are. There also some Christians who are the same way to Atheists.
I am an Atheist and recently went to church with my fiance on Easter. I was offended by the preacher when he said the same thing. That all Atheists are rude and "want to destroy Christian values" is completely untrue.

I am an atheist. I agree that some of us do that, and it's just as wrong and bad as when Christians do it. I generally keep my atheism hidden since it alarms people so much, but in fact I am often mistaken for a Christian due to my behavior. I have many Christian friends who are quite fine, upstanding, and do not loudly proclaim their faith to others. I have also seen Christians who do that, and I think a lot of atheists are sick of that. I realize that Jesus did tell people to proclaim the Gospel, but most people do not like having it preached to them, myself included.

I've noticed the same thing you've pointed out. Maybe they don't dislike Christians so much as Christianity. They may be coming from a Christian tradition and be reacting against it. Some may be into pagan religions which draw a lot of energy from hating Christianity and doing the opposite of whatever the Bible says. And a lot of it is political. They think Christian morality holds society back from what they'd like to see. Maybe they're not getting much sex, and they think if only things were looser they might get some action.

I'm sorry you haven't yet had the pleasure of Christians trying to force-feed you. It's truly fun, and nobody should be denied that pleasure.
Let's give you a few examples:
Recently, leaving a store, a woman points to my jewelry and yells out "Jesus is better".
A town fair last summer, and some Christians pull out a megaphone and a box and start shouting at people while standing on the box.
A subway in Seoul, and a screaming man walking up and down the car shouting his message.
It goes on and on, and I've seen it everywhere.
Nowhere have I seen similar behavior under similar circumstances from atheists.

Well, many Christians are interested in forcing religion into secular government. Have you heard of intelligent design? Or laws against gay marriage and co-habitation? Or claims that our nation was founded on the "Judeo-Christian" tradition?
There is a fundamentalist movement attempting to undermine my freedom from religion. I live 10 miles from Liberty University, a Christian school founded by Jerry Falwell. They teach that dinosaur bones are only 3,000 years old in their science museum. He's building a law school next, to overturn American laws that go against Christian fundamentalism.
"The idea that religion and politics don't mix was invented by the Devil to keep Christians from running their own country."
-- Rev Jerry Falwell, Sermon, July 4, 1976
"There is no separation of church and state. Modern US Supreme Courts have raped the Constitution and raped the Christian faith and raped the churches by misinterpreting what the Founders had in mind in the First Amendment to the Constitution." -- Rev Jerry Falwell
I've seen the bigotry where I live, and I want to protect freedom in this country. Hopefully you and others will buck the trend.

I'm an Atheist, and I don't criticize any other religion. I think that everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I like to hear other people's beliefs, from any religion. I find it interesting that there are so many beliefs out there that everyone thinks is true. The Atheists who put down Christians are probably fake. They don't know what they believe in, and just fall back to Atheism, of which they probably don't understand. So I would just ignore them, because it isn't worth arguing over.

I have seen a lot of pious, and at times vicious, religious people on here. I guess we see what we want to see and ignore the rest huh?
I think people really object to being told they are going to hell. I know I do. It pisses me off because the people who tell me always seem sooooo smug. They think that they deserve to go somewhere wonderful and I deserve to spend eternity in pain, which is irritating. For the record I have no set ideas about where we go when we die (if anywhere but into the ground or the funeral pyre). It's called an open mind.
