that I take a blind leap of faith, go against all my instincts and reasonings and accept a highly unlikely supernatural being who offers no unambiguous evidence of his existence save for some writings in an ancient book (which was written by humans over time)?

And if he wanted me to choose correctly, why wouldn't he make it a little more obvious, knowing how thick and stubborn us, um, "athiests" tend to be.

And for that matter, why should my choice upset him so much that he would forever ban me/send me to hell/put me outside of his presence/die a second death/and so on? Wouldn't a loving a forgiving god do more of a surprise party thing, like "Gotcha! Fooled you good didn't I? Now lets all go party in heaven!"

Great question ... I wonder this also and have voiced this among Christians only to be told I can ask Him when I see Him, which as an ex-Christian is iffy :-)

I have often wondered about this. I tend to have Christian values, though I'm sure a lot of people would point the finger at me and say "You are NOT a TRUE Christian."

However, that is mainly because I was raised around Christians. If I had been raised somewhere where most people were Hindu, I would probably be Hindu. Or...if I were raised around atheists, then I would probably be an atheist.

Why would an all-powerful God condemn someone just for believing the wrong thing?

Yes, you are correct,it is reckless abandon,to human nature in deference to faith in the revealed word of God. Without which it is impossible to please God or be saved from his righteous wrath. He has revealed himself in nature and has proven himself through the prophets of old as well as his incarnate visit to planet earth..He is not far away....and will always make himself known to those who seek him with their whole being...

Explain this supernatural event that I experienced day...

I prayed to God for a dime and a dime appeared in my hand
I am either lying or it really did happen.....I have been witness to other miraculous happenings as well....This thing is for real.

He wants to protect us. He wants us to have faith in Him instead of our own understanding. His Word is good in past, present and future. Not everything recorded in the Bible is acceptable behavior by God.

He gave you your intellect, and that is why He wanted to give you your free will. The proof of existence of Him is all around us... it really is : )

When He tells that Jesus is the way, it is not exactly a little mistake to refuse it. : )

Any god that would send someone to hell simply for having an honest difference of opinion isn't worthy of any worship at all.

God word stands forever and will never change and if a person does not meet the standard God gave, I assure they will not be partying in heaven.

It is so important because he loves you as much as he loves me. He wants you to feel his love in your heart not your mind. Faith is a great leap in itself. I pray your name is in the Lamb's Book of Life. If it is not then..... Do you want to go to heaven? By the way, I think it will be a great surprise in the end.

God gives us all multiple chances to believe and accept Jesus. I'm sure there will be celebrating for the believers, but there won't be any party in Hell.

Of course you know the answer - it is not important to God. It is important to some people. If God wants your attention, it will let you know and make it clear. Until then you should absolutely never go against your instincts.

Peace!
