15 months is kind of young to go into a toddler bed. Is he actually trying to climb out of the crib? If not, keep him in it longer. Life changes when you move to a toddler bed - there's nothing to keep in bed anymore - Not at naptime or at 3am, either!

Hi, my toddler started climbing out of her cot too a couple of months ago and she was around 20 months old. I was worried about her hurting herself, so we bought her a single bed and she loves it! We didn't go with a toddler bed because she would have ended up in a single bed eventually anyway and we couldn't afford to get the both of them. We put her in a normal single bed and bought a bed rail so that she doesn't roll out. We just pushed the bed against the wall and put the bed rail on the open side. The only time we had a bit of trouble was the very first night but the next day she was happy to go to her 'bed' for nap time and sleep time at night and she still does. We just kept on explaining that this was her new bed, and that she is a big girl now and that big girls use beds etc and really praised her up for using the bed.
Hope this helps. I don't think age is a problem, it just depends on when the child is ready or is climbing out.

My kids were 17 mos apart, and I moved them both into toddler beds at the same time. My daughter was almost 3 [and did NOT want to move from her crib] and my son was a little older than yours. Well. I really shouldn't have moved my daughter because it made her really afraid, and my son kept falling out of bed [one side and the foot were against the wall...the head was against the dresser...the other side had a bed rail - he still managed to fall out of bed over and over and over] till he was about 3. So haha I just realized I am probably not the one to be answering this question!!

My son had a convertible crib that converted to a toddler bed that I switched when he was about 14 months old. Then, when he was 16 months old, we ended up making a 3 year move overseas that limited me to the amount of furniture I could bring, so I decided to sale his crib and purchase a twin size bed since I couldn't get one where we were and he would need one eventually. I bought a bed rail and we set it up for him as soon as we could. I had to lay in bed with him until he fell asleep for about a month. I would talk to him, explaining how this is the bed and we don't get out of it until morning, that he needed to fall asleep, etc etc. Pretty much anything to say about the bed until it bored him to sleep. Then, after that month, I was able to do his usual bed time routine and then just put him in bed and he would fall asleep on his own. He fell of a few times at the foot of the bed... so I started putting a few blankets and pillows down to soften his fall. He did just fine converting though. I was very proud of him! That just goes to show that every baby is different! If you want to switch beds for you baby, do so! Just know it will take some time for both of you to convert, but with patience and persistence, you'll both achieve the goal!

I just saw this same question in May's Parents Magazine. It said the ideal age is between 2 and 3, with the closer to 3 the better. They said that many children start being able to get out of their crib before the age of three so parents move them to toddler beds, but the children have a hard time understanding the imaginary boundaries of the bed. They suggested that parents get the attachable mesh tents to attach to the crib to keep children from escaping. They even suggested that you can make it sound really cool and grown up to be sleeping in a tent.

Whenever you feels he's ready. My son went into a toddler bed starting at 15 months. He's now just about 2 1/2 and he never had any trouble. We put a baby gate up at his door so he couldn't get out and get into things but could still yell for us if he needed something and he's so used to it now that he tells you when he's tired and will go get into bed.

If he is climbing you may want to try to move him to a toddler bed, but dont put away the crib just yet.. Make sure he is comfortable sleeping in his new bed first.. You dont want to have to go thru the trouble of setting the crib back up if he isnt quite ready for the other.. Best of Luck..

If he is climbing, it's time to move to a toddler bed. You don't want him trying to get out and falling and getting hurt. I would recommend a toddler bed with a rail. Good luck :)

My son is 17 months and I still think it is to early to take him out of the crib. He does not try to climb out yet. This way I won't have to worry about him getting out of bed while I'm sleeping and getting into trouble/danger.
And of course as you know they can always find the one thing you don't want them to play with, no matter where you left it.

each little thing I genuinely have examine, is that you'll save your newborn in a crib until eventually they are ninety cms lengthy. it quite is about 3 ft lengthy. maximum cribs might want to be regulate decrease so as that the newborn can not climb out. If yours isn't adjustable, then a bypass to the toddler mattress is ideal.
