Does the texture(Nappy-ness as i call it) affect the way waves can come out?

Say if someone has extremly coarse nappy hair and he get waves would it be the same exact looking waves as someone with less coarse nappy hair that got waves?

Also, whats the difference between a durag and a wave cap when it comes to using them for waves

Dont they do the same thing?

Some people think that it's harder for people with nappy hair to get waves. If that person with nappy hair knows the right methods and knows what products to use he is actually more likely to have fresh spinnin waves.

First of all, people with nappy hair should use a medium or hard brush. They should also be sure to use a pomade that is thick enough to hold their hair down. Dax (in a red can) and Murrays (in an orange can) are the thickest that I can think of. People with smooth hair should generally stick to soft brushes and carrot cream or pink moisturizer.

Wave caps and durags genarally do the same thing. The difference between them is wave caps are thinner and looser so some might argue that it's best to get a durag because it's thicker and has an adjustable tie. In my opinion durags aren't that good for weighing down the top part of your hair. What I do is wear a wave cap underneath the durag at night.

Brushing is what really developes peoples' waves. The only thing that pomades and durags are good for is weighing your hair down to make your waves more visible. A wave is just a laid out curl on your head. Durags are also good for protecting your pattern while you sleep.
