That may seem dumb. But I've looked into it and it sounds like exactly the same pain i'm having. The only problem is everyone who's had it just about, has had it because of pregnancy. I'm not pregnant, and there's not a chance of it. Can this still be my problem?

Anyone can have problems with the sciatic nerve. The reason pregnant women often have this problem is due to their weight gain and their posture changes because of the abdominal weight gain. This can be a seriously painful problem for anyone to have. If you think this may be your problem, you need to see an orthopedist for help.

Sciatic nerves are not caused by pregnancy- though the extra weight from a pregnancy can aggravate a sciatic nerve if it's already there.

What is happening with a sciatic nerve is that a couple of your vertebrae are out of line, and are pinching on a particular nerve. Which causes it to become very painful.

You do not have to be pregnant to have problems with your sciatic nerve. In fact, most people who have this problem are typical everyday people who have jobs where they are forced to sit all day. This causes fluid in the vertebral disc to displace, bulding the disc outward which may cause pressure on the nerve roots that feed into the sciatic nerve. This can cause pain in the back which may travel down the back of the leg and possibly to the top outer boarder of the foot. It may also be accompanied by tingling and weakness. Most people who have this typically feel worse with prolonged sitting, and feel better getting up and walking a little bit.

Get into physical therapy and look for someone who has MDT (aka "McKenzie") experience.

every person has a sciatic nerve-it just depends if it is bothered or not. See a chiropractor-adjustments can help relieve the pressure on the nerve. PS-the pain usually manifests somewhere else-hip, leg, foot

Yes you can have this. I have had problem with this area for most of four years. I am and have not been pregnant. I would try a chiropractor as well. Regular docs will just give you pain medication and this will not help with that nerve. Good luck

Sciatica is a condition that you can get whether you're pregnant or not, male or female. The sciatic nerve is in your lower back and it controls most of your lower body movement.

the sciatic nerve may be affecting you, disregarding pregnancy. also check your back for pulled muscles, or lower extremities lack of stretch, specially the hamstrings.
