You will need to get the 2005 version of the tax forms. Federal forms are available from the IRS website at the link below. For state forms, contact the state where you were. Searching for the states name and the work "tax" will usually find the state's Department of Revenue or Department of Taxation. Just complete the forms and send mail them in. Past year returns can't be filed on-line.

You can still file your 2005 tax return, chances are if you did not owe money this year you will not owe money for 2005. If you do not owe money the fact that you filed late, or not at all, is not a problem. Our government just wants money and would prefer that you did not file if you were to be rewarded a return.

Unemployment is taxable and you need to document it on your return. you will won a sort 1099-G from the state. once you get that, you need to document an amended return. once you get your refund, do no longer spend it! you very almost unquestionably will ought to pay once you document the amended return by fact the flat 10% it rather is withheld from unemployment is seldom adequate to conceal the tax which would be due. you will need some (or all!) of your refund to pay the tax due on the unemployment. And please quit taking tax suggestion from this "buddy." he or she is doing you no favors in any respect!
