I tried eHarmony once, but my matches were usually in some other part of the country.

I've met about 11 people off the Internet in my life. Despite talking to all of them several months prior to meeting them, they're always different then I imagine them. They're the same person they said they'd be, but never exactly how I think they'd be. It's really interesting and most of the time, fun :) If you can have interesting conversations online, there won't be a lack of things to talk about in real life, but the opposite is also true. Just don't walk into it assuming anything, the first time you meet them.

I've never used eHarmony. The man I'm dating now though, we started going out last spring, but have been talking online since 2001. I'm shy in real life so the internet has been a wonderful help meeting people, as well as saving time by avoiding dating people in rl who I would have had nothing in common with.

You should NEVER have to pay to meet the one you were meant to. Don't let capitalists make money off your loneliness.

I liked eHarmony - I was a paying member for three months. I met a really nice guy through it and we met a few times. But it just didn't work out. I was really uncomfortable around him (I'm really shy, and it seemed like he pushed me a little too much to be more outgoing) but he was a really nice guy and a really good person. Also, he's in the military and his base was about 5 hours away, so even if it did work out it would be really tough with the distance.

I didn't like Eharmony. It was just strange the way it worked and no I don't believe what they say about their match making ability.
I have had the best results with yahoo personals.

Overall online dating has its own rules that you kinda have to figure out, but you will probably find someone that you enjoy spending time with.
Good luck.

That's how I met my wife (through internet dating). Been together for 10 years. You just have to weed out all the scum is all.
