It must take a lot of wishful thinking and ignoring facts.

Even many atheists believe there was nothing before. Most scientists don't believe there was a before the big bang. If there are many gods where did they come from? Are they related. How could the universe have been created with so many competing interests? Which ones the greatest and who's in charge? In any group there is always someone vying for power. Don't they teach about alpha personality in science class anymore? Besides, If someone great enough to create a 100 billion galaxies and can snuff me out in an instant tells me he's the only God, Who am I to argue?

Perhaps they are not very observant. I see that the Gods are almost always in appearance much like the people who worship them. Ex's...

White God for white people.
Buddha for orientals.
Black Jesus in Black neighborhood churches.

etc...

What did I observe?

Everyone seems to have a God that matches them as exactly as possible. Humans are control freaks.

Theres only one God for some. Why?

Their religions, parents, and fellow practitioners of said faiths all shoot these continuous thoughts into their heads...

"Ours is the only God. Ours is the greatest god. We should feel sorry for all who do not know our god."

"Nothing came before..."

The big bang theory is weird to some as they will say what came before that?

Then it makes sense to ask what may have come before God/Gods.

These people may not be interested in asking those types of questions.

People either deliberately or un-intentionally remain un-dynamic about their willingness to ask these type of questions.

I see many religions as cults or control mechanisms.

I accept the Bhagavad Gita (song of God) Translated by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada Who is in a Pure disciplic succession from the Speaker of the Gita Krishna 5,000,years ago, Which states One God with many names and expansions. It is just the way it is . He has unlimited manifestation. You are also godly. You and every living being has all the qualities of God but not in the same quantity. Just like a drop of water has all the qualities of the ocean but not in the same quantity. We are all eternal Spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul also known as Krishna, Allah, Vishnu, Jehovah, etc. But has no Creator everyone else does. Krishna is the source of all of His other Incarnations even of Vishnu. It just all made sense to me. Krishna says He reveals Himself to the sincere seeker. It is not by any other means to have spiritual realization than through pure devotional service, which pleases Him.

God has always been, is and always will be. Since He created the heaven and the earth and everything in between, it stands to reason that He is the ONLY God and that nothing came before Him.

I dont think we have. Christians believe in a trinity. As a psychology guy I deal with two mindsets (God and Satan if you will). Arabs have a different messanger than Christians. The true god of the world is Satan in all honesty. We are the beast.

It's just easier to believe, plus it's a comfort zone type of thing. Especially for older people who are looking at death in the face, and want to believe there is something coming after. I don't blame them, either. It's almost human nature.

The question of who made God can be answered by simply looking at space and asking, "Does space have an end?" Obviously, it doesn’t. If there is a brick wall with "The End" written on it, the question arises, "What is behind the brick wall?" Strain the mind though it may, we have to believe (have faith) that space has no beginning and no end. The same applies with God. He has no beginning and no end. He is eternal.

The Bible also informs us that time is a dimension that God created, into which man was subjected. It even tells us that one day time will no longer exist. That will be called "eternity." God Himself dwells outside of the dimension He created (2 Timothy 1:9, Titus 1:2). He dwells in eternity and is not subject to time. God spoke history before it came into being. He can move through time as a man flips through a history book.

Because we live in the dimension of time, logic and reason demand that everything must have a beginning and an end. We can understand the concept of God’s eternal nature the same way we understand the concept of space having no beginning and end—by faith. We simply have to believe they are so, even though such thoughts put a strain on our distinctly insufficient cerebrums.

It all had to start somewhere I agree and I don't pretend to understand how God was/is/and will be, but I know it is true because his spirit lives within me. I don't know if he is the only God. I just know that he is the only one that has ever had anything to do with me.
