For a example if you see someone verbally abusing someone in a customer service position for no reason I think we should confront them and call them out. I was a at coffee shop today and this yuppie scum was verbally abusing the poor girl because she didn't put enough foam in his latte. I put bass in my voice and told him it is NOT acceptable to talk to her like that. At which point he apologised got his coffee and left. a girl in line thanked me for doing that and the poor girl working their looked so relieved. Whose with me about confronting jerks like this when your out and about? Getting a problem solved respectfully is one thing, being a abusive jerk is another.

People know they can get away with this type of bullshit. But the problem is that people who are that way are sad, and sorry and have no life. God knows why they are so angry. So sometimes you might get yourself involved in a situation involving a crazy person who may not be afraid to harm you if you intervene. Problem is people out there in society are dealing with all sorts of problems and are not strong or sensible enough to deal with problems in a civil way. And hence lash out on the weak and people who are not in a position to protect or defend themselves....i.e people in the customer service industry are limited on how they can respond to rude and nasty people. I worked in the customer service industry and I just hated some peoples attitudes.

Thank You for stepping up. I think things used to be like this, but today everyone is so afraid of getting hurt in the process that they mind their own business.

I think it's important to reward great customer service (I always send emails to management when I receive above and beyond service) and I think it's important to stand up to bullies. Interesting that the guy would jump all over a girl, but scurry away from a man.

Thanks for stepping up to the plate. If more of us did that people would think twice about their actions.

Wow man, you'd be so busy with rude people you wouldn't be able to do anything. There's an abundance of self important people in the world that feel they are the only ones doing anything to keep the world spinning around. Good for you to step up and say something to that guy, I love that, when guys like to be rude to women. Usually they will not be rude to men like that which tells you what kind of person they are. Anyway, KEEP the dream alive! Get a 'mean people suck' bumper sticker too. And put it on his car.

First, I think you mean "band together", but I get it.

Second, I think it's always important to stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves. However, I believe there is a very fine line to walk.

In the situation you describe, the girl could not stand up for herself b/c of her position as a server to the general public. In other situations we don't always know the entire story, therefore more tact may be required, if any confrontation is indeed warranted at all. And of course, one must also consider not only the safety of oneself, but also the safety of all witnesses & those involved in the situation.

Personally, I think most people today are far too nosey & butt-in where it's not appropriate. In a public place, though, I usually consider intercepting a possible volatile or rude situation as appropriate.

Here's the problem, somewhere over the years people stopped caring about their fellow man(or woman). No one cares unless its ALL about them. Yes, i agree we need to stick together a lot of things could be solved, and a lot of things would be different. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening. If anything its getting worse, and completely out of hand.

I agree with you. I think that you did the right thing.

Unfortunately, too many people today are in that category. Fifty years ago, a person like that would'nt be accepted. Today, it sometimes seems that there are more of them than there are of us. People screaming obscenities on the street. I don't think this is acceptable. Fifty years ago they would have been arrested.

this is not woman privilege I merchandise to - its feminists telling me i'm someway greater privileged than a woman. how am I ? an regularly happening woman immediately would be greater advantageous knowledgeable than an regularly happening guy, have greater ideas in relationship (frequently speaking), paid the comparable in the artwork stress, greater reproductive rights (no longer that they shouldn't, yet nonetheless, they do have them), favoured in divorce courts, family contributors courts, criminal courts, much less probable to become homeless, much less probable to be imprisoned, much less probable to commit suicide, have their genitals intact (in assessment to many adult men mutilated as infants), under no circumstances be drafted, and stay longer than adult men. So the place in the international is all this male privilege i'm meant to have ?? If this would be a patriarchy i'd hate to work out what a matriarchy appears like.

Good for you!! I worked in the fast food industry for 10 years as a store manager and I frequently had to remind people that they had to treat my employees with respect. My reminders were usually met with sheepish apologies - most people will recognize when they're being unreasonable a.... if you give them a gentle reminder.
