check your state laws most states will not allow you to work from home...in my state you have to have your business separate from you dwelling and if you are caught you will loose your license for good and face fines...

I would recommend working at a salon to build a solid clientele. When you decide to venture off on your own try opening your own small salon as opposed to using you home. Working from home appears a little bit less professional. Be sure to check with your State Board to see what the rules are as far as working from your home legitimately. I know in Ohio (where I live) you can not have a door from your work area that accesses your living space. You need to leave the salon area and enter the house from another door. You also have to follow all of the regulations as far as sanitation, proper floor coverings, etc...

Obviously, you went to school to obtain this License and put hard work and effort into this career. You are better off working in a Salon. Remember, this gives you "street creditibility." Get the experience of working with the Public and work towards eventually gaining a respective and consistent Clientele base. Working from home could be an added bonus. $$$$$$$

Start with a salon: It will be easier for you to get a clientele, and maybe even to get equipment and supplies.
But once you're established and known, you can do whatever you wish. There are even a couple of ladies who have set up a truck as a traveling hair salon for people who can't get away from the house, or who just want a quick cut and style during their lunch breaks.
Good luck!

Start working in a popular salon, then move up to renting a chair in a good salon. After a while you'll be ready to try it on your own.

I think you will have an easier time getting clients at a salon but I think little by little you can get some of your clients to come to your home. At the salon they know what type of job you did and if they loved it you should have no trouble getting them to your home.

If you worked from home you would have to pay for your own advertising and stuff so I would work at a salon if I were you.

Salon. From a customer's standpoint, it seems more professional. Once you have a clientele base, you could move to home if you wanted.
