I've always wondered what keeps other drivers who are at the end of their rope from just pulling into my lane head on and ending it all. I'm surprised that it doesn't happen all the time with so many kooks in the world, aren't you?

When I first started driving, heck yeah. I mean, you kick off at 50 MPH, faster than standard in the city, and then puch about 70 MPH on average. The turns are sharper, the cars around you are so fast that a crash is definately a tremendous threat (no more fender benders once you hit those speeds.), and you really need to be alert to keep your cool and to drive safely.
Ironically, all those fears quickly faded for me because my first time driging on the expressway was with a wild passenger who reached over to honk the horn and punch me in the head, and was shouting at me to go faster to follow the group the entire time. So I had too much to deal with to be overcome by the fear, and untimately never fully experienced the highest climaxes of 1st time highway driving horror.

i was for about 3 weeks for me , its changes for other people , exp on the road . and just being carefull u, i am sure she will pull through . Just got to double check when u change lanes and dont tail gate , u should be ok .
If your sister has been in a accident before any time in her life , it may take a while depending on the person , i have a friend who is afraid to drive anywhere . He makes me pick him up and drive him . Kinda annoying accually , : )
In fact i have been driving for 15 years no accidents but one thing that still makes me nervous is merging with lanes from both sides but once its all done , im fine .

I don't like to drive on an interstate, expressway or highway. To many crazy. Either we go to fast or to slow. Nobody ever signals anymore, they just cut you off. I just love it when people race on the interstate likes it's there own personal Indy 500 with no consideration for others. Honstly I don't like driving at all anymore.

No, fortunately I am quite confident and secure with driving on congested highways at 75mph while driving a tractor trailer.
My secret tip for doing so is to be rested and alert, have a cup of coffee or something refreshing to drink (no, not booze) find a good radio station or song on my iPod and focus on what I am doing.... notice the phone was not included. I yield to people who are obviously trying to go around me, signal lane changes early and leave plenty of space between me and the vehicle in front of me. It takes practice, but remaining calm and knowing where you are trying to go help as well.

I can't say I was ever afraid to drive on the x-way. I guess I got used to it riding in a car with my parents before I was driving.
