A good time to do sit ups is when you first wake up in the morning before you eat breakfast. It will give your metabolism a kickstart and burn fat that you already have, not the sugar you just ate.

Night time isn't bad, but morning is the best time for exercise.
*if you are going to be doing something more strenuous than sit ups, definitely eat something or you won't have the energy to do it. Do your sit ups, eat a banana or something, go for your run, and then come home and finish up your breakfast, if that's the route you choose to go.

doing them before you go to bed might keep you awake at night. Doing exercises produces chemicals in your body and they often make you feel energized and awake.

I've always been told to exercise in the morning.
Then you'll have an extra boost of energy throughout the day, but you'll be able to sleep at night.

SLEEP is also very important when trying to build muscle i've heard. While your sleeping, your body has time to repair its self/make the muscle/etc... 1AM sounds a bit late to go to bed...(unless you just have a crazy schedule)...you SHOULD get at least 8 hours of sleep a night.

best time for any excercise is in the morning. Excercise breaks the muscle fibers down whereas rest allows them to be built up stronger.
