Boogers are dead inflammatory cells (body defense cells which try to fight bacteria & other foreing bodies and keep the eyes healthy).
Don't worry....it's normal! Bacteria are always looking for opportunities to get inside the eye...and our immune system is constantly trying to fight them off. The cells that die in the process make up the boogers...so no, there is no eye drops to stop the boogers...
If your immune system sends in inflammatory cells to fight off bacteria, the cells WILL die...If there is no boogers, it means your body is not fighting against bacteria....and you are susceptible to eye infections!
In short, don't worry about it. :)

I get a lot of them when I eat dairy products, especially cheese. Some people are sensitive to certain foods, ie. wheat, dairy, soy, etc. and that is one of the reactions they can have. You can experiment with not eating dairy products for a month, then eating about a whole days worth. You will know by the next morning if that makes your eyes worse. By the way, my physician tells me those eye secretions are not mucous, or "eye boogers." I don't yet know what they are, though.
To make it easy in the morning, use a warm wash cloth, then finish with a cold one. It wakes you up quite well, too.

It could be a lacrimal duct obstruction which just means that your tear ducts may be blocked. It's pretty normal. Just try massaging the tear duct by pressing downward from the inner corners of your eyes. Maybe use a warm wash cloth to promote some drainage. Do it a few times a day and make sure you wash your hands before touching around your eyes. You don't want to get an infection.

It is normal to have "eye boogers". It means that your tear glands are working while you are asleep. Some people have more than others, and some have none. Just be glad that you do have them or your eyes would be very dry and hurt like hell.
