it is not plenty that folk in right this moment's international have difficulty spelling atheist, that's that folk have difficulty spelling any and all phrases. The coaching of best spelling seems to be misplaced today era. yet then too, we are reaching a international aim industry, and for many English isn't their interior reach tongue, so for those we would desire to be awareness, and we are. yet for people who're taught English from beginning that's inexcusable to not be attentive to the right spelling of phrases. As a born back Christian, technically i would be a theist, yet i don't think of of myself in this terminology. i will have in no way even written this be conscious only before now, yet for sure I even have seen it and be attentive to it in the process the interest atheist which seems right here quite regularly.

It has something to do with the english language. (Aside from pure ignorance of course).
In my language (swedish) nobody ever makes the mistake to switch places between the i and e. Except possibly by pure typing mistake. One of the sort where the just as well the h could be placed before the t.
Possibly this is because the two different spellings would have a very distinct difference in pronounciation.
And that is certainly very much in difference from english.

I before E, except after C and in some words that you'll just have to memorize. And really, all superlatives end with -est. Of course, to refer to a person belonging to an -ism, it's -ist.
Look at it long enough. Is it atheist or athiest? Heheheh.
Let's make a Samuel Johnson pinata and beat the candy out of it.

Does it really matter?? Neither your beliefs, self worth or anything crucial depends on the correct spelling of a word. It is not personal. Get over it!!!

Because it goes agains the rules of all English grammar. But I guess thats the point of Atheism right, to be different and full of rebellion. Why not put a silent C infront of the E, atleast then it is grammatically correct?
Remember: I before E except after C!!

Some home-schooling is the bane of society (note I did NOT say "all"), and public school is so worried about guns and religion they're not teaching much else, plus parents don't often do their job either.
