what are the absolute signs that you may have cancer in the esophgus?? my husband for years has had acid reflux and throat and all the stomache sytonms and actually he has alot of bowel movement not exactly diarrehea but often he sometimes says he has the urge but he dosen't go (bowel) that is. he has pain at the top of his stomache as well with a ball like hardness at the begining of the diaphram
any doctors in the house. he has had mri done 7 years ago nothing then but seven years is seven years i know lots can change as well please help

It has to be diagnosed by an internist, as often there is no symptoms.Make him go to the doc as soon as possible!

Wow, it sounds like you've got a bad case of reflux! You also may have a hiatal hernia or a stricture, so it's a good thing you're going to see a doc! In the meantime, make sure you keep your head elevated when you go to bed, with 2-3 pillows. Make sure you eat very slowly and wait a minute or two after swallowing to take your next bite of food...and chew it up GOOD!. For now, stay away from sticky foods like bread and pasta, drink plenty of fluids (slowly) and try taking some over-the-counter meds like Pepcid or Zantac about 20 minutes before you eat. Good Luck!
