Seeing JPM in NASCAR and having mixed results I wonder how would someone from NASCAR like Tony Stewart, Dale Jr. or Jeff do on the F1 circuit.

actually a few years ago jeff gordon jumped in JPM F1 car at Indy.and JPM jumped in jeffs car.

i think with enough practice any of the top notch cup drivers would be comparable to the F1 guys.it would take some getting used to the differences in the handleing of the cars.

He had reason to smile. On the second-lap of the second segment, having mastered the luxury of traction control and precision braking, Gordon laid down a lap just 1.3 seconds slower than Montoya's best of the day in the same car.

F1??? A NASCAR driver would probably not do too well in F1, at least at first. After all, in F1 you actually have to turn right once in a while (LOL)... I know, I know, NASCAR runs road races (Watkins Glen, etc;) and that they have to turn right on occasion. I'm just joking around (I've been a NASCAR fan since the Yarborough Brothers and Junior Johnson were still driving and the only master of the track was a Tarheel named Petty (and not Kyle).
Seriously, it's a totally different kind of driving. The next time you watch an F1 race, watch when they show an action shot into or from the cockpit, and notice how little an F1 driver has to move the wheel to make a turn. Of course, the converse is true also; F1 drivers (especially F1 drivers with IRL experience [i.e. Montoya] ) and look how marginally they run in NASCAR. God help Danica Patrick if she emigrates to NASCAR; Those Bump-Draftin' boys will bury her.

(p.s. RIGHT ON, MUZ!!!)

It would depend on the driver and how much time they were given to get used to the F1 car.

If you haven't seen it, find a copy of "Tradin' Paint". It was a special with Jeff Gordon and Juan Pablo Montoya. The two switched cars, so Montoya drove Gordon's car for a few laps, and Gordon took Montoya's F1 car for a few laps. I'm not sure but I think Montoya did slightly better. Interestingly enough Montoya is the first F1 driver to go to NASCAR, and within his first few races he even won a race. Notably the win came at a road track, rather than an oval.

I don't think a NASCAR driver would necessarily embarrass themselves but it would definitely be a significant difference, more so than going to NASCAR, which are at least somewhat closer to a street car than an F1 race car.

It depends on the driver. Tony Stewart and Robby Gordon would most likely excel in F1. They have both proven that they can win in any type of car they drive and have backgrounds in open wheel racing. Jeff Gordon might do well too, but I'm not sure. The rest would be probably be average or sub par.

Personally I think that there are 3 or 4 that could handle an F1 car.Tony,Jeff Gordon, Robbie Gordon,John Andretti could adapt.Junior and Jimmie J and A.J.Allmendinger,could make it with proper coaching.
Of course Juan P would be there.
That's all I have to say about that.

probally would do well but you will never see a good nascar driver leave for f1 because they would not make as much money or have as big of a fan base also to the guy above me montoya won a busch race not a cup race big difference there my friend

It depends on the driver. Both Stewart and Gordon would excel at it, IMO. Jr would probably not do as well, since he is more "old school" and less versitile. I think Stewart, J. Gordon, Mears, and Johnson would do well. Maybe the Busches, too. Struggling would be drivers like Kenseth, Sadler, and most of the older drivers (Jarrett, Petty, Waltrip, ...)

Well, Tony and Jeff would probably do fine seeing as how both of them worked their way up to cup driving. Both have driven well in anything with wheels. To quote ole DW a few weeks ago, "Give Tony Stewart a cockroach with wheels and he'll find a way to win in it". GO TONY!!!

It depends on the driver... I would say Tony Stewart is the most versatile driver in the world. He won the IRL championship in open wheel. I think he would do well in F1.
