"God so loved the world that he sent his only son so that we would not have to endure it. If we are eternally tortured it is because it is what we want. "

To which my reply is...

"thats like saying that even though it was the teacher that hit you upside the head for acting up in class, its your fault that they did so.

Or like saying that, even though a husband beats up his wife, she did something wrong so its her fault he did it."

Do you Christians honestly believe such a thing? That its the wife's fault because the husband hits her because he's punishing her for something she did wrong?

Can you not see how morally wrong that is?

No, Gods Kitten, I'm right. I've read the bible too. You not liking my interpretation is your problem, not mine.

Yes Sun, unfortunately I did. The idea of responsibility isn't exactly a Christians strong suit.

In other words, why is the deity in question not responsible for anything?

Fundamental law of the universe: Power = Responsibility. You have power over that for which you are responsible, and you are responsible for that over which you have power.

In the event this function is made unequal, it becomes a dysfunction and the relationship becomes unstable and is ultimately doomed. There no harmony in it; it can't last.

This is a major credibility issue with Christianity. Many people recognize the dysfunction in the relationship. It doesn't make sense. Things do not work this way, and a lot of people know it.

You can talk until you are blue in the face. The cult called Christianity have usurped the believer's minds and now all reason is lost. A Christian's mind is stuck in a mental loop that can only repeat the bible. Once you fall hook line and sinker in the belief of a deity called God that can do anything this becomes your baseline reasoning. That is why they say God can do anything so anything to them in connection to the bible is possible. Get it? Such foolish is the religious mind.

The childish mind of a Christian can no longer see beyond the fantasy world of the bible. Remember many of them have been indoctrinated from child birth. Only a few of them are strong enough to break free of the orbit of this powerful brainwashing.

When a Christian faith does start to weaken they go back to other Christians or the bible for reprogramming. Religions operate like cults and now there are some very large accepted cults in this world.

Chalk this up to childhood programming. What is evil have now become acceptable to the masses.

Look, I've explained to you already that
you were grossly misinformed about Hell.
But what this answerer was simply trying to say is that you have a choice to do right or wrong in this life. I can't answer for you,
but I have no problem with God kicking the royal *** of some people - those that come to mind are SOME guilty priests, child rapists, those that have done some really
sicko things in this life -
In any case, all the answerer was saying
is that the decision to do such things is that of the person who has the free will. Free will
is packaged with a responsibility that comes along with it - many of those responsibilities that comes with your free will are listed in what we call the Ten Commandments.
I am sorry to say, and say it intending no offense to you at all, but you can whine about being corrected by God but thats not
gonna change it. You will have to stand before Him and make account of what you've done. To say that its unfair for God
to judge you is really a moot point. Unfair or not (in your opinion) A Father has the right to chastise his children. The children
can whine and moan about it all they want,
but they're still gonna get it....

If a god actually did so, then he's been quite unfair to us, also. The whole concept of Jesus performing miracles and rising from the dead is laughably absurd to people with a modern understanding of how the world works.

It wasn't absurd when it supposedly happened. People actually believed in magic back then.

One would think that this "god" would at least make his "sacrifice" a little more believable. No matter how much I would like it to be true, there is no possible way I can believe it is.

Is that my fault? That I'm not ignorant?

Yup... You've just described the central premise of paternalism, be it religious, political, or family. Kinda reminds me of long ago when my brutal father would frequently beat me for violating one of his innumerable petty rules.

"This is going to hurt me more than you," he'd always say, as he removed his belt. *whack* "I want you to think about how much I have to suffer because I was cursed with you for a son." *whack* "This is all your fault." *whack* "What are you crying about?" *whack* "I'm the one who's really suffering!" *whack* "A good son wouldn't do this to his father." *whack*

I've never hated anybody like I still hate my long dead father. After he was cremated, my sister and I divided his ashes and took turns flushing him down the toilet, laughing hysterically.

Of course abuse is not the fault of the victim. That's silly and that's not at all what God is doing with mankind. You're missing a very important point. The examples you gave are from a strictly human point of view.

God created mankind and gave mankind the rules by which to live in order to please Him (God) and live forever with Him. Mankind broke those rules, and continues doing so. Because God is perfectly holy, He cannot tolerate any sin whatsoever in His presence. Honest. God cannot be with anyone or anything that is sinful. Humans are now sinful creatures. That's truth. If you have ever sinned once in your whole life, you're guilty of breaking God's law and are therefore a sinner. In some cases, even thinking about it is enough to convict you, as Jesus Himself said.

Instead of letting all humans rot and burn for eternity in hell because we have all sinned, God sent His Son to pay the penalty of that sin. His perfect righteousness is then credited to the account of anyone who truly believes and trusts in Him, repents of his or her sin (turns away from it) and humbly asks from the heart for God's forgiveness. That is one amazing deal.

Now you're complaining because you don't like God's terms and conditions? God's holy law must be satisfied whether you agree with it or not because He makes the rules, not we humans.

Blimey what bible are you reading? it dosnt say that at all, God loves us lot, but he hates what we do, he sent Jesus to show us another way, we dont have to be the way the world wants us to be, we have choices, love isnt always about hugs and kisses, it is also about discipline. In fact, if a parent dosnt discipline their child, there is no real love.

This Christian believes that Jesus is the way the truth. If you do not put your life in his hands and trust him totally, well then God will judge you at the Great White Throne Judgment and cast you into the lake of fire with Satan, his angels and the Anti-Christ. It is your choice.

Why are you listening to obvious impostors? Next time, don't repeat lies. Rather, demand the answerer to provide scripture to backup their nonsense.
