Paxico, justice is not eternal torture. Thats extreme, don't you think?

Uruxio, I completely agree. Torture is never loving. Therefore any god who would do such a thing is not loving.

Yes randall, but your parents didn't torture you for eternity for touching the hot stove when they told you not to. They gave you a swat on the butt, told you not to do it, then gave you a hug to comfort and it was left in the past.

Petina, thats like saying that war is ok because it wasn't the soldiers that were killing the civilians, it was the civilians that were getting in front of the bullets. Idiotic and a cop out.

epaphras, thats like saying that even though it was the teacher that hit you upside the head for acting up in class, its your fault that they did so.

Or like saying that, even though a husband beats up his wife, she did something wrong so its her fault he did it.

Sorry, that doesn't fly.

redflag, yes it does. It seems to me that Christians are lying to themselves so they don't feel so bad.

Andrew, by that meaning, everyone on the planet is going to hell. If your god is that insecure, I'd rather suffer in hell with my family, than spend eternity basking in the glory of any god.

that what I don't understand about christian theology, the person above says "That's not love that's justice.." okay, but didn't god create us?? didn't god create us with all of our defects just to have some people being punished for eternity? what is the point of punishing people for eternity? if they can't learn from their mistakes, what is to be gained from eternal torment??

randal z makes the same kind of meaningless statement, how can you compare a parent punishing a child to eternal torment?? a parent punishes a child to change the childs behavior, but how can eternal torment accomplish that?? it can't, it's pointless

Yeah, after a certain amount of time even the masochists are going to get fed up. However, since many Christians state that Satan rules over Hell but he isn't a god. Have a revolt against that sucker. . .or . . . get real smart and just stop believing in Satan and his boss and they'll fade away.

There is no eternal torture...where did you get that from?

If you're talking about hell...you'll get there because of your own disobedience as a consequence. If you don't want to go there, then do what the Lord has told you to do...repent.

Regardless, I don't believe hell will be an eternal torture, I know Catholics believe that. I think they're wrong.

I think the "eternal torture" will be when people who as a consequence are not allowed in Heaven, they will feel awful when they realize that God actually did exist and/or they rejected Him.
God is bound by his rules, if we don't follow his rules, he's also bound by the consequences which are befitting for us. We are simply not allowed access into Heaven without having repented and confessed our sins.

The torture is not what love is. Love was diplayed when Christ died for us and ascended into heaven.

By dying Christ payed the price written of in Romans.

Because Jesus died and rose we are free to choose life or death.

Life - eternity with God
Death - eternity without God

Disobedience is harmful. Parents who love their children make rules to protect their children. Part of having rules is having consequences when those rules are broken.

Parents who do not love their children do not care if the children harm themselves or get into trouble.

To answer that, God does not send anyone to hell - they walk away from Him|

Hell is simply the *outer darkness* - the *eternal chaos* - beyond God's pale|

And God did not create hell either| Lucifer's fall did that, as that devastated a part of creation originally created good by God, and then as a result of that, it was converted into hell (this is considering the totality of creation as something of wider extension than our physical universe - although our physical universe is obviously included in it)|

I think most religions (including many sects of Christianity) only believe that punishment in the afterlife is temporary. Christianity varies so I can't quite say for sure which ones believe it is eternal and which don't

The payment for one sin alone is eternal separation from God and eternal suffering. God Died on the cross to give everyone a chance to redeem them selves by turning from their ways and asking for forgiveness and accepting and trusting Jesus as their savior to live in pardise with him forever .

It isn;t. God so loved the world that he sent his only son so that we would not have to endure it. If we are eternally tortured it is because it is what we want. God loves us and that means he will not violate our will. Love must be a choice or it is not love. So choose this day whom you will serve. As for me and my family we will serve the lord.

It isn't. It sure blows the theory about God loving everybody, when he was intent on destroying people (Noah and the flood, etc.)

the eternal torture is for the false prophets and the beast.

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever
